Marijuana Legalization?
Wednesday, December 01, 2004
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s son, Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Macapagal-Arroyo (Lakas, Pampanga), is supporting a proposal to legalize marijuana allegedly for medical purposes. The question is, how many will benefit from this 'wonder' grass and where are we heading? I hope this proposal will not push through, otherwise, the Philippines will be the drug capital of the world.
There are more serious problems that need attention. Broken families and abandoned children abound. Why don't legalize divorce instead so that men will not get away from their responsibilities? Divorce Bill Law should be given more importance since it became a common practice that men abandoned their families and children without support and then, start a new family somewhere else.
The strength of the nation is in the family and legalizing divorce instead of marijuana will help our children get child support from runaway fathers to protect innocent children.

.Well after reading everyone’s opinions posted on this site, I wonder when are people going to stop with their bickering over who is right & who is wrong. Obviously all of the posts on here have opinions pertaining to the author and most of the time opinions originate from personal experiences or event that have had a profound impact on their life. Whether it was just the experience of smoking marijuana, or seeing people turn in lethargic wastes from marijuana use; i still ask myself and others, legal or not, should we just argue about it, or accept it all and all? You can argue and hold strong to an opinion there is never anything wrong with that. Or we can accept everyone’s ideas thoughts opinions and actions as is with only one explanation, a state of personal freedom. So maybe your wondering were do I fall into all of this mess? Should i uphold my values opinions and personal borders? Or should i just let it be and accept it? Well we all sooner or later have to make choice, but while traveling down the path of life when the river divides into two whether we choose the stream to the left or the stream on the right, remember we are all going to end up swimming in the same ocean together..
I have been smoking weed for the last 12 years, that's since I was 11 years and through experience I can tell you debating ain't gonna get you nowhere. If you dont' harness its full potential, then you will end up a broken junkie. Have the right intention when smoking, meditate, be good and just do your thing. Legalize it or not?, knock yourself out coz we still gonna smoke weed till we lay.
I have been smoking pot since in was in the 5th grade im a good student, friend, daughter, and sister. My older brother got me into smoking! But it also was my choice no one elses. I believe it should be legalized for medical purposes. Otherwise just keep everything the same. We do have to have some people who are straight in this world to keep us in line, but it should be just not a big deal if we smoke.I know for sure i dont want the president of the US to smoke because what if he has a crappy day and just decides to press the red button and piss off the rest of the world. If we are a free country then why are there so many laws against things. Government doesn't want us to feel good. I think if we have a ounce or under on us then we should be let go because then they know we are not trafficing it or its personal use.
Leglize it!
Wow, sounds like someone is taking the propaganda books as gospel. I read War of the Worlds and am sure glad we defeated those nasty old Martians back in the 50's or we would all be in trouble. Alcohol was used much more than marijuana back in the day, and it didn't originate from the Mexican's but the Indians. You must have been high in school when they taught history and now that you have decided to study are reading the revised version. Good luck in your marijuana induced stupor. I will continue to live clean and sober where I can enjoy my life and love without chemical inducement of any kind.
Marijuana was the #1 medicine in the United States prior to 1902. It was only made illegal because California and Arizona wanted the Mexicans to stay out of their states. The Mexicans were known to commonly use the medicine from God and they saw this as an easy way to get them out.
That was one reason it was made illegal. Then the timber industry decided if it was illegal they could sell more trees for the production of paper. (Paper before being made from trees was made from Hemp, the male plant of Marijuana). Then the petroleum companys came in and said, they are using hemp oil to light their homes in kerosene lamps. So then the oil companys and the timber industries joined the fight to illegalize marijuana for better profits.
Do you think a medicine made in a lab from a drug corporation is better than a medicine given to all of us from God? Have you not taken time to read all of the nasty and terrible side effects of these corporate prescription drugs? There are constant law suits.
Before you state your uneducated opinion on Marijuana, God's Own Medicine, you should first read the book, "The Emporer Wears No Clothes" by Jack Herer.
It was made illegal because of greed, and that is unjust. When you're dying, can you honestly tell me that you'd like to be perfectly sober so that you can feel every last bit of pain? Or when you're dying would like to experience some light eurphoria and relaxation? Most of those seeking to use it for medical purposes are terminally ill.
Sincerely,
Jason
Vice President
To mic,
Seeing as how I already have retired from one job and am drawing a pension and am working another good job that will give me additional retirements funds, and since I own my own house, have a wonderful fiance, I don't think I would consider myself a weak ass loser. At least I can pass the drug tests at work and am coherent enough to keep my life in check. I don't think I am in bad shape for 50 years old. The way you sound you will not make it to that age. Smoke your pot if you want but don't get down on people who do not choose to take part in your vices.
its 2005 everyone. wake up! the world has changed; and if you stick to old methods, you are bound to be extinct. legalize marijuana!
P.S.: RWO, you are an inexperienced loser. if you cant handle the light weight of marijuana, then dont. i on the other hand can; which means i am way better than your weak ass.
I have been heavily smoking reefer for the better part of 5 years. (incidentally, who in their rightmind would pay 350$ for an Ounce?)
I can only tell you about myself and my experiences. I am a recent high school dropout, but that was due to a problem with alcohol, that started before my pot use. I have gotten a GED, but because of my use of pot its hard to get a decent job. Having said that, I will never quit smoking pot. I've tried many, many drugs, and can honestly say that marijuna was not a gateway (i was regularily using coke and booze way before i tried grass) The only substances i indulge in is the occasional beer, the pack of smokes a day, and weed.
i dont see how my using pot, or anyone elses using pot, can hurt someone else. I mean, really, how many people get stoned and then get violent and crazy? most stoners I know just sit around and play music or do something creative and artistic. Or at least cook really good. If we put it on a scale, I would be willing to bet that the number of vehicle crashes related to marijuana are a lot lower that alchohol.
Legalize.
With everything, its a personal responsibility. Personally, i beleive that the majority of people against it are probably people who have never tried it. And i mean really tried it, more than once or twice.
but you dont have to listen to me. I'll just move to colorado and open a head shop.
PS.
Iin another of my personal experience, the strawberry swishers are the best
PEACE
The best reason to legalize marijuana is because it is harmless to your body, unlike alcohol which corrodes your liver. Millions of people all over the world already use marijuana, and like it very much. These people should not be treated as criminals any more than someone having a drink in a bar. Like all mind-altering substances marijuana should be used in moderation. Most people who are against the legalization of marijuana has no personal experience with the drug so only restate propaganda put forth by the government's War on Drugs. For 35 years this war, waged against our own citizens on our own soil, has NOT accomplished its goal of reducing the supply of marijuana. In fact marijuana use has increased and continues to do so.
Pothead,
Well I am very impressed with your reply, as you can’t seem to get your capitalization of letters and punctuation right. I suggest you use MS Word when posting so you can check spelling and grammar because the current post just demonstrates your lack of education. Or maybe you just don’t care.
I smoked marijuana most of my senior year. So I guess you could say I did more than just experiment a bit. I watched my grades fall and I did develop a "don’t care" attitude.
You say you are a millionaire, which I doubt. You also have to result in name-calling and insults, which makes your argument mute. If you are involved in a debate in the future I would suggest that you debate the facts and don’t call people names as it just indicates you do not have a valid argument and so you just try and win the argument by calling a person names.
My mother died of cancer and if marijuana would have helped her with her pain I would be all for it. The highball of drugs she was given was much more effective. It has already been proven that the legalization of marijuana in California has been proven to be ineffective and abused.
They have had to close down many of these self appointed doctors that write prescriptions for everything from an ingrown toenail to a headache.
Continue to insult and call names, and by all means smoke your pot. Maybe you will be lucky like my brother who used it as a stepping-stone to heroin, acid and other drugs. He has managed to have a great life in between jail and prison sentences for everything from possession to murder (drug deal went south).
If you indeed are a millionaire, which I said I doubt, then good on you. Continue to smoke your pot and have a great life. Eventually you will figure out when you are no longer a millionaire that it was a bad move.
listen RWO, just because you smoked pot once in high school doesnt give you any authority on the topic of marijuana legalization. i have been smoking pot EVERYDAY for the last fifteen or sixteen years, and im obviously still able to care about things, or i wouldnt be responding to your dumbass comments. the use of pot for medical purposes would be great, cancer patients in california all say it helps them to relax and it even helps them deal with their chronic pain. of course the privelage would be abused, kids would steal the medical pot from parents or grandparents, or fake an injury to get some. but doesnt this happen with prescription pills also? so why dont we just take away every pain killer so we dont all get that, " I don't care about anything attitude." and furthermore, i own a succesful business and bring in several million dollars a year, i know that smoking pot doesnt lead you down a terrible road ending in homelessness and poverty. you sir or ma'am are a typical american jackass, and thats bad considering im from Kentucky. if you people would take your heads out of your ass and quit listening to the news you'd be a lot better off. RWO you are a sorry excuse for an american!!
Well from the folks that posted here getting down on Laila for mentioning or even posting this post, it strikes me as funny, that you can not even spell. I am an American and did experiment with marijuana in high school. i found that it gave me a "I don't care attitude" and if I would have continued down that road I would never have made it to where I am now in life. Go ahead and smoke all you want I could care less. But when your life goes down the drain and you have no job, home or future, please do not go on welfare or unemployment. I would hate to see my hard earned tax dollars go to support someone who has to be high to deal with life.
Not because you are using marijuana, it should be legalized. Shame on you kelly weatherford, bad mouth.

Why would you personally send me an e-mail, what are you trying to get your last laugh? You are a "pawn" of the goverment and you don't even know it!! If you feel that way your a nut, lady!! We are on two different sides of the fence, Why do you feel it's bad, THINK about it! I do have respect but to "chase" me down and ridicule me over my morrals, well then kiss my white AMERICAN ass!!!!!
Your ignorance is sickening,
kcw
Ok you guys are right, I am going to keep smoking as lond as I can and If it comes up again I am going to vote against legalization because right now we are making WAY to much money selling it under the table for the "MAN" to legalize it and all of us to lose our everything me have created! I speak for MILLIONS of americans. Think about proabition in the 30's when the mob because WAY dangerous and made millions over illegal loose, there was no way they wanted it legalized either! We legalized and that problem disapeared, or look at canada they are doing amazing crime wize now and they smokse almost legally!! You people are the fuel that feeds the fire!
Your ignorance sickens me,
just a kid
KCW, I don't drink nor use marijuana... I respect your opinion but it does not mean when you're done with something, the government should feel the way you do?
Let's decide here what's the good for the majority of people and not to please the vices of very few individuals.
How is it that you consume less that 5$ in alcahol and become so screwed up that you can't drive a vehicle or even walk a straight line, but you can consume 28 grams or 350$ worth of pot and still have full motor skills. Well it's because the government makes a lot more off of the tickets then they do if they legalized it and taxed it. I was beaten when I was a lot younger because of alcahol abuse but never because he got to stoned. Now Neither my father or I consume alcahol because it ruined years of our lives not talking because of it. I think alcahol should be the Illegal substance. I am still but a child and I learned the hard way which is worse, besides Dangerous people make lots of money off of it and would LOVE to see MARIJUANA never legalized. Thousands of people die each year to alcahol poisoning and car accidents because it is exactly that POISON! It's such a sad situation.....
if you want to know the truth about weed then i think you sould watch this doc that i found it's called "GRASS" it's all based on truth nothing maid up. it you want to know what the govenment dosen't want you to know then you should watch this movie and just so you know i smoke weed and i live a normal life with kids and a job so those of you that claim it's a gateway that is just a excuse to bad mouth it because anything can be a gate way drung even prescription drungs.
WEED IS FROM THE EARTH, GOD PUT THIS HERE FOR ME AND YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE PEOPLE, TAKE ADVANTAGE!!!!!
I respect your opinion, Billy Bob, but, please do not call us 'morons'...
you all are a bunch of morons, it should be legal. it never killed anybody, cops could spend more time fighting the hard dangerous drugs instead of pot that never killed anyone, it is safer than alcohal and advil!!!!!!
I know I look at things differently than some people; but here is my reasoning:
George Soros wants to legalize drugs (not just maryjane). Soros made his money mostly in currency speculation, nearly destroying the economy of Malaysia. Strangely, the former PM of Malaysia stopped cursing Soros and joined with him in his efforts against Bush... Soros hates US President George Bush and spent like $25 Million or more in the recent election.
Al Qaeda Terrorists use drug money to fund killing innicent people. Al Qaeda raped and killed children and even killed their own women at Beslan... Al Qaeda hates George Bush.
Soros and Osama Bin Laden use a lot of the same talking points.
I see them as the same. They want legal drugs to raise money for Al Qaeda, obtain underage "dates", and break down the bonds between parents and children. They want to enslave or kill us.
But that's just my opinion...
Last week in Dallas a young man high on marijuana caused a fatal car wreck that killed a single mom...
Pot does kill. That's reality.
I never use this pot, so I may not understand how it helped those who were dependent on its effect. But, of all things, why legalize marijuana? Are we that desperate to make money?
We have recently passed legislation here supporting the same thing but it is against federal law and it is in the Supreme Court of the US. I believe that legalization of marijuana even for medical use is a bad thing as it will be abused. They can take the pain killing aspects of the drug and put it in pill or syrup form for the folks that need it for valid medical reasons. This is just justification for someone who has a headache or an ingrown toenail to smoke dope, and it is not right. Take it from someone that smoked this crap in my younger days. It just gives you a "I don't care about anything attitude".
Please write responsibly. Thank you!
