Hi Lara,
congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here’s Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman’s winning answer.
Question: “What do you say to the people of the world who have typecast Filipinos as nannies?”
Answer: “I take no offence on being typecast as a nanny. But I do take offence that the educated people of the world have somehow denigrated the true sense and meaning of what a nanny is. Let me tell you what she is. She is someone who gives more than she takes. She is someone you trust to look after the very people most precious to you – your child, the elderly, yourself. She is the one who has made a living out of caring and loving other people. So to those who have typecasted us as nannies, thank you. It is a testament to the loving and caring culture of the Filipino people. And for that, I am forever proud and grateful of my roots and culture.”
MS. LARA:
GREETINGS!
CONGRATULATIONS!
I am so proud of you, your determination and FAITH IN GOD. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. As God says in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you , plans to give you hope and a future.
I believe you have a "Personal Relationship" with God? I mean your Born Again Christian right? I have watched MAGPAKILANMAN tonight and I was blessed on how God have been so faithful to you and to your family as well. Though your father is not around anymore, I want to encourage you that GOD IS THE FATHER OF THE FATHERLESS.

I hope that Filipinos, esp. our leaders, would make you as an example of the true values and heritage of our people. I know that if every Filipino would try to emulate your dignity, and if our leaders would know your stand on the true meaning of service and put it into practice, then our country would become the great nation that it was meant to be... Your answer in the final event was astounding one, you have answerd the question in a possitive way and it has flipped the coin over. Mabuhay!!
We are so proud of you Precious. As beauty pageants are not being televised in China, so we only learned your winning from our friends who sent us info about your bagging the title. We were deeply touched with your answer and this made us proud to be a Filipino. You do deserve the crown. Again our warmest CONGRATULATIONS!!!
So it has proven once more that FILIPINOS are really "WORLD CLASS". We may belong from a poor nation but that doesn't mean we can't be wise and smart. CONGRATULATIONS LARA!!! You've proved the world again that FILIPINA BEAUTY could launch a thousand ships.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Precious Lara for winning the Ms International 2005 award!
My sister who works as nurse in the US emailed to me your winning answer to the question. You gave an intelligent, realistic, dignified, and brave answer!
You made every Filipino proud of our heritage and culture and we are very proud of you. May God continue to bless you and your family.
From: Gelita S. Morales, Gen Santos City, Philippines, Oct 22, 2005
You nailed it, girlfriend; I am a nurse in the U.S., just like yoour Mom in the UK; At first I looked at the question as degrading because they would not dare ask Ms Oklahoma about being Ms. White Trash or Ms. Okee, but you had a dignified answer to what was otherwise a demoralizing question; for that I am sooooo very proud of you, your parents ought to be proud of the kind of person you are now; To me you shine inside out. I showed my 13 yr old daughter, who was born and raised in the US, because the question was actually a reality that was brought out in the open that she might not be aware of, and the smart girl that she is said that, "Mom you were right. It comes off as a degrading question that awoke me to the fact that this is really going on, and that Ms. Quigaman actually made sense, in that I will forever be proud of being a Filipino, if being a Filipino means being a wholesome person who cares for the least and most fortunate people, then I am proud to be one of them. " I am proud of my daugter and I am like the rest of the Filipinos, baby, I am so proud of you, you can come to my house anytime.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We received with great inspiration the answer of Precious to that question about the 'nanny.' However, a friend of mine is skeptical about it. Can somebody confirm it that the question was indeed asked to Precious during the pageant and that that was indeeed her answer?
PLEASE....
THANKS
congratulations to a very dignified lady... i salute to the beauty of your insight... i salute to the strength of your character which was illuminated so mightily in your answer. i bow to you....
Dear Lara,
I plan to print out your awesome and very inspiring answer to such a sensitive question, and share to fellow countrymen here in Taipei. You gave a such a wonderful answer that could only come from an enlightened heart. You set such a good example to all Filipinos, young and old, that is, to be proud of our great culture.
I've not watched the pageant on TV. Just read the news from the paper. I thought it was just one of those pageants. I didn't know it was one of a kind! A momentous event for all of Filipinos, who have lost the morale because of the lingering political, economic and even morality crisis.
Congratulations! May the Holy Spirit continue to guide you in making a difference in this world.
Dearest Precious Lara,
Congratulations! You did it with flying colors! i'm so very proud of you. i was once a nanny here in California, and your answer brought tears to my eyes. I can tell that you were brought up with good values by your parents. I saw, the tv patrol news where you were talking to your relatives and the President via satellite and just by listening and watching you, you made me cry already. stay humble and sweet. Viva Lara!!!!!
