::Bible Week

Sunday, January 22, 2006

I woke up as early as 5:30 a.m. this time when Paul Denise shuts down modem in my room. Mother and I then attended the 7 a.m. mass in Sto. Niño Chapel.

Today is the third Sunday in ordinary time and today's homily is about The Bible and Jesus: Ignorance of the Bible is ignorance about Jesus. The mass was held by Fr. Romulo Bueno in Tagalog using Sambuhay's missalette: Ang Daan Sa Gawain ng Diyos (A Pedagogy on God's Work).

National Bible Week is on January 23-29, 2006: Power for National Renewal.

Today's LITURGY OF THE WORD:

  • First Reading (Jon 3:1-5, 10) (Sit): The story of Jonah tells us that sinners are not doomed to disaster. By choosing to repent and change their ways, the Ninevites changed their fate.
  • Second Reading (1 Cor 7:29-31): Because time is short and this world is passing away, Paul tells us not to set our hearts on this world but to live according to the values of the kingdom.

I lighted 3 candles again but this time, I brought my own candles: One is for faster confirmation of my sister's flight abroad for employment purposes; second was for the welfare of my family and third, for the swift success of my 'divorce'.
