In case you didn't know, Userland's Weblog.com monitors over a thousand fresh blogs and have them listed on their site. You see, if you're a blogger who is feeling bored and lost, why don't visit other interesting fresh blogs at Weblog.com?

Ah! So many things to discover, so little time..

Blogs and Bloggers...

I have encountered today a very interesting ratings about blogging while browsing The Technorati's Top 100 ranks based on a linear relationship of the incoming links to a blog.

The Blogcount Estimate that there are about 2.4 to 2.9 million weblogs on the net. As of Jun 9, 2003, Blogger got 1.5 million registrations and about 705,000 are active. See the complete figures at blogcount!

Through Technorati's site, I discovered interesting works of other bloggers...

How Many Are Connected Online?

According to NUA Survey, "The art of estimating how many are online throughout the world is an inexact one at best. Surveys abound, using all sorts of measurement parameters."

How many are online worldwide as of September 2002, the number is 605.60 million. Source: NUA Survey

The 21st century global citizen or worker

"The 21st century global citizen or worker will have to keep up with this evolution of current times. He must be a citizen of the world because companies and brands are global. He must, therefore, be a global consumer," said STI Education Services Group chairman Felipe Alfonso. "It's going to be one world, one market, one consumer, where boundaries, citizenships, ideologies, economies and businesses will blur. How we live, how we relate with each other, how we buy, how we sell and how we make things will change." Full Story on Developing a world-class workforce

I was having difficulty synchorinizing my blog entries between BlogSpot and Geocities FTP since old users were moved to the new.blogger.com server. :: Soul Searching

Thursday, June 26, 2003

I prefer to make things easier and have not blog lately, not only to relax my mind but, also to think very carefully whether to continue blogging or not.

Everyday is a new learning experience and I had been exposed to many new stunning bloggers' works everyday. Some were funny, some were very creative, some were informative and, some aired warnings. Blogging has its advantages and disadvantages but, definitely, as a blogger, I have been exposing not only my thoughts but also my day-to-day activities which someday might affect my family, my work, my relationship with friends and most of all, my happiness!

I encountered a blogger's site, Don't Blog, and here are some of the reasons not to blog if you wish not to expose your privacy to the world.

Somehow, blogging saved me from chatting too much while keeping friends informed about the latest happenings in my life without directly communicating with them. Imagined repeating the same story to many people everyday just to satisfy their interest of knowing how are things with me... But, of course, I am not trying to avoid chatting with close friends, but, I just want to have a peaceful time with the kids while doing my soul-searching. It's a normal thing that we seek some quiet time, apart from pressures or influence of people close to us.

I'd like to thank all my sincere friends for regularly visiting this site... I hope everything is running smoothly and well with you and may God bless us all!

Thursday, June 19, 2003

One night there was a woman at the airport who had to wait for several hours before catching her next flight.

While she waited she bought a book and a pack of biscuits to spend the time. She looked for a place to sit and waited.

She was deep into her book, when suddenly she realized that there was a young man sitting next to her who was stretching his hand, with no concern whatsoever, and grabbing the pack of cookies lying between them. He started to eat them one by one. Not wanting to make a fuss about it, she decided to ignore him. The woman, slightly bothered, ate the cookies and watched the clock, while the young and shameless thief of biscuits was also finishing them.

The woman started to get really angry at this point and thought "If I wasn't such a good and educated person, I would have given this daring man a black eye by now."

Every time she ate a biscuit, he had one too. The dialogue between their eyes continued and when only one biscuit was left, she wondered what was he going to do. Softly and with a nervous smile, the young man grabbed the last biscuit and broke it in two. He offered one half to the woman while he ate the other half.

Briskly she took the biscuit and thought, "What an insolent man! How uneducated! He didn't even thank me!"

She had never met anybody so fresh and sighed relieved to hear her flight announced. She grabbed her bags and went towards the boarding gate refusing to look back to where that insolent thief was seated.

After boarding the plane and nicely seated, she looked for her book which was nearly finished by now. While looking into her bag she was totally surprised to find her pack of biscuits nearly intact. If my biscuits are here, she thought feeling terribly, "those others were his and he tried to share them with me."

Too late to apologize to the young man, she realized with pain, that it was she who had been insolent, uneducated and a thief, and not him.

How many times in our lives, had we known with certainty that something happened in a certain way, only to discover later that it wasn't true?

How many times has our lack of trust within us made us judge other people unfairly with our conceited ideas, often far away from reality.

That is why we have to think twice before we judge others.

Let's always give others the benefit of the doubt before we think badly of them.

Accept what you cannot change and change what you cannot accept...

Tuesday, June 17, 2003

I finally got my annotated BC this morning in spite of being ill. Twice I almost collapsed while in line claiming my BC in window 12 and while talking with Statistician when authenticating it.

I personally thanked Mr. Matabang once again for the big help and he taught me what to do next with my document. But, I cut the conversation short because I cannot talk longer, I was real dizzy and feel like collapsing.

I hurriedly went home and thanked God, I reached home safely, it's raining heavily outside and windy...

Meanwhile, tropical storm "Egay" (international name: Soudelor) whipped the Philippines
  • a mother, her two young sons and a man drowned before dawn Sunday in Catbalogan town in the province of Samar;
  • a total of 11,524 people, including 8,960 in the Bicol region and 2,564 in Eastern Visayas, were stranded due to the foul weather;
  • a tornado destroyed some 20 houses in coastal village of Buenavista in Castilla town in the province of Sorsogon on Saturday;
  • Classes in all levels in the provinces of Albay, Cagayan and Isabela were suspended Monday, the first day of classes for public elementary and high schools, because of heavy rains and strong winds;

Paraskevidekatriaphobics - these are the people afflicted with a morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th! Throughout history we seem to have disliked the number thirteen (the Devil's Dozen), even more so when this date falls on a Friday and this 'unlucky' day has entered into popular myth and legend. However bear in mind that to the ancient Vikings Friday was one of the very best days of the week to get married as the Godess of Love and Fertility was believed to be most active on this particuliar day! [3 DAYS AGO] "In the aftermath of the Iraq war, you can almost hear the buck being passed between political leaders and their intelligence advisers.

There are two main issues.

  1. The first is whether the British and US Governments exaggerated ("sexed up" in the words of one unnamed source) the basic intelligence on Iraq weapons in order to justify a war.
  2. The second is whether the intelligence was wrong in itself.

Meanwhile, the countdown begins prior to my interview next Friday. The Independence Day That Wasn't

"The Bell Trade Act prohibited the Philippines from manufacturing or selling any products that might "come into substantial competition" with U.S.-made goods and required that the Philippine constitution be revised to grant U.S. citizens and corporations equal access to Philippine minerals, forests and other natural resources. As Americans relax around their barbecues this Independence Day, we might consider how our own forefathers would have reacted had such a provision been demanded by Britain as part of the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War." We did fight side by side with the Americans in Bataan and Corregidor, and succored those who hid from the Japanese, for which pains we had postwar rehabilitation funds tied down to parity rights." :: Articles of Impeachment of President George W. Bush et al?

Monday, June 09, 2003

[The following message herebelow was posted by a fellow 500 netizen named Julie and I find this very informative, if not interesting though. I have posted it here to know what the future holds not only for me but, for the whole world and entire humanity as well. One thing is for sure, do not let anyone control our lives, no one, not even God wants us to be a dummy... it is our birth right to have freewill, and our future should not lie in the hands of any political leader of any nation...]

Articles of Impeachment of
President George W. Bush
and
Vice President Richard B. Cheney,
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, and
Attorney General John David Ashcroft

  5. Making, ordering and condoning false statements and propaganda about the conduct of foreign governments and individuals and acts by U.S. government personnel; manipulating the media and foreign governments with false information; concealing information vital to public discussion and informed judgment concerning acts, intentions and possession, or efforts to obtain weapons of mass destruction in order to falsely create a climate of fear and destroy opposition to U.S. wars of aggression and first strike attacks.
  6. Violations and subversions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, both a part of the "Supreme Law of the land" under Article VI, paragraph 2, of the Constitution, in an attempt to commit with impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes in wars and threats of aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq and others and usurping powers of the United Nations and the peoples of its nations by bribery, coercion and other corrupt acts and by rejecting treaties, committing treaty violations, and frustrating compliance with treaties in order to destroy any means by which international law and institutions can prevent, affect, or adjudicate the exercise of U.S. military and economic power against the international community.
  7. Acting to strip United States citizens of their constitutional and human rights, ordering indefinite detention of citizens, without access to counsel, without charge, and without opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the Executive of a citizen as an "enemy combatant."

  15. Institutionalization of racial and religious profiling and authorization of domestic spying by federal law enforcement on persons based on their engagement in noncriminal religious and political activity.
  16. Refusal to provide information and records necessary and appropriate for the constitutional right of legislative oversight of executive functions.
  17. Rejecting treaties protective of peace and human rights and abrogation of the obligations of the United States under, and withdrawal from, international treaties and obligations without consent of the legislative branch, and including termination of the ABM treaty between the United States and Russia, and recission of the authorizing signature from the Treaty of Rome which served as the basis for the International Criminal Court.

Meanwhile, Human parasites in the Philippines are pressuring our Lady president, Macapagal, to run in 2004.

  • WHY are so many people trying to substitute their minds with that of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo?
  • Why are George W. Bush and Mahathir Mohamad meddling in our political affairs?
  • Why are her advisers and hangers-on telling the press that this or that foreign head of state is urging her to run?

:: Goods news!

My contract arrived today but unfortunately, I am unable to amend my passport yet.

I'd thought I am done with my BC but I was wrong: I received the duplicate copies of documents submitted for correction of clerical error on my BC (petition took me 2 months), they had annotated it and I got certificate of its Finality. I requested for a copy of my BC in security paper (SECPA) and will be released on the 17th of this month, processing is about 8 days. Then, once released, I still have to authenticate its copy for embassy purposes. I'd like to thank Dir. Ramon Matabang, the Registrar Director in Quezon City Hall, and also, Mr. Cariņo who annotated my BC, and all the friendly staffs at the QC Registrar Office in assisting me with my petition - "..thank you and more power to all of you!!!"

On the other hand, sometimes I could not stop myself hating those people who made fraud documents. Living in this country of over 82 million population and full of fake and illegal documents, the foreign embassies demand legitimacy of these papers needed which consumed too much of applicant's money and time... ah!

If you have noticed delayed posting here, it's because I was unable to login lately to this site... Blogger's parent company, Pyra Labs, was purchased by Google and they are currently fixing remaining issues and will then begin the migration of blogs to the new version.

:: USA Immunity Agreement

The "Philippines has signed an agreement with the United States giving US citizens in the Philippines immunity from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Foreign Secretary Blas Ople entered into the executive agreement in an exchange of notes with US Secretary of State Colin Powell..."

Inquirer says, "Washington refuses to support the ICC, arguing it could become a forum for politically motivated prosecutions of US citizens including civilian military contractors and former officials, and has been on a worldwide campaign to sign immunity deals since the court came into being last July."

"Others have suggested the agreement was a requirement for the Philippines to qualify for inclusion in the multi-billion-dollar US Millenium Fund to combat terrorism."

Hey, patriots, the USA never gives something for free... a security-related assistance in exchange of immunity, what a deal???

:: Should United Nations be scrapped?

Monday, June 02, 2003

I have posted this message on 500 Citizens of the World Network when someone addressed me to reply to her question:

Should the United Nations be scrapped, let's look back what's the history of the United Nations:
  • The name "United Nations", coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was first used in the "Declaration by United Nations" of 1 January 1942, during the Second World War, when representatives of 26 nations pledged their Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers.
  • The forerunner of the United Nations was the League of Nations, an organization conceived in similar circumstances during the first World War, and established in 1919 under the Treaty of Versailles "to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security."
  • In 1945, representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter. Those delegates deliberated on the basis of proposals worked out by the representatives of China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States at Dumbarton Oaks, United States in August-October 1944. The Charter was signed on 26 June 1945 by the representatives of the 50 countries. Poland, which was not represented at the Conference, signed it later and became one of the original 51 Member States.
  • The League of Nations ceased its activities after failing to prevent the Second World War.
  • The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatories.

If you have time, please visit also these related sites:
- Milestones in United Nations History

I am not aware if you have encountered the United Nations Intellectual History Project (UNIHP) site, where it says:
"Ideas and concepts are a main driving force in human progress, and they are arguably the most important contribution of the United Nations. Yet, there is no adequate historical study of the origins and evolution of the history of ideas cultivated within the United Nations and of their impact on wider thinking and international action. The United Nations Intellectual History Project (UNIHP) is filling this gap by tracing the origin and analyzing the evolution of key ideas and concepts about international economic and social development born or nurtured under UN auspices. The motivations behind these ideas, as well as their relevance, influence, and impact are being assessed against the backdrop of the socio-economic situations of individual countries, the global economy, and major international developments."

"The second main activity of the project is conducting oral history interviews with key participants in the evolution of UN ideas; Oral histories are essential, both to inform the various publications of the project and to provide a key historical resource for future generations of scholars."

The International Advisory Council for the UN Intellectual History Project was established in July 1999 and is composed of eleven distinguished individuals from around the world who have a variety of practical and scholarly backgrounds. Those whose advice and leadership bestow enhanced credibility for the project are:

Galal Amin
Margaret Joan Anstee
Lourdes Arizpe
Eveline Herfkens
Enrique Iglesias
András Inotai
Thandika Mkandawire
Gert Rosenthal
John G. Ruggie
Makoto Taniguchi
Ramesh Thakur

The creation of Global Policy Forum monitors policy making at the United Nations, promotes accountability of global decisions, educates and mobilizes for global citizen participation, and advocates on vital issues of international peace and justice.

If you believe it's time to renounce the United Nations, especially when President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair slammed shut the window of diplomacy on the United Nations on March 17 and went forth with a "coalition of the willing" to occupy Iraq, who is then behind the New World Re-Order ???
