Virus Found in message "test"
Saturday, January 31, 2004
Since January 26, I kept receiving Virus Alert from my mail server. Not only that, volumes of Undelivered Mail or Returned Mail from Daemon was also sent into my inbox! I refrained from chatting to ensure that others might not get infected from my computer. Only to find out from Afonso that he received couple of mails also in his INBOX with the same subject line.
The virus is using my own e-mail address to make it appear that the mail was undelivered to the recipient and had been returned to me. But, I know it was not a legitimate e-mail from me because there was no name on it except e-mail address and the recipient's name was not known to me either. Here is the sample mail I received:
Symantec AntiVirus found a virus in an attachment your mail sent to Bob Kirsh.
To ensure the recipient(s) are able to use the files you sent, perform a virus scan on your computer, clean any infected files, then resend this attachment.
Attachment: readme.zip
Virus name: W32.Novarg.A@mm
Action taken: Quarantine succeeded :
File status: Infected
My mail server alerted me and deleted viruses like WORM_MIMAIL.R, and WORM_MYDOOM.A in my mail traffic. Based on Computerworld Report: "The Mydoom worm, also known as Novarg and Mimail.R, is a mass-mailing worm that arrives via e-mail as an attachment with one of several possible file extensions, including .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr or .zip. When a user opens the attachment, his computer becomes infected. The worm is apparently designed to attack the SCO's Web site, beginning on Feb. 1." Therefore, SCO offers $250,000 reward for arrest of Mydoom worm author OR "for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for creating the Mydoom virus."
Also, Computer World reported that "Experts have said that the Mydoom worm is spreading faster than last year's Sobig.F, which topped the charts as the most widespread e-mail worm of 2003."
I already set my my pop mail preference to view mails in attachment format from previous inline attachment. Please observe all possible precautions so that your computer will not be infected with this virus. It already caused us so much inconvenience scanning our PC from harmful viruses but we found nothing. Glad my ISP is updated with virus definitions.
W32/MyDoom-A and W32/MyDoom-B can be removed from Windows 95/98/Me and Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 computers automatically with MYDOOGUI, a disinfector for standalone Windows computers...
Wish I Could Run For President... Part XI
It's unbelievable and unthinkable that analysts see close fight between Poe and Macapagal. I find this some kind of mind programming technique, inducing in the minds of the Filipino people that PGMA is still the best person to run this country. While it is true that Ate Glo has the experience among other presidentiables, we should be wary what kind of legacy her administration has given us. If this woman will remain in power for another six years, I am afraid the justice system in this country will probably be rampantly abused and misused!
Look at the latest scum just happened recently, the tampering of Poe's parent's documents by the Archive Chief, Manapat, which should not be ignored by remaining God-fearing politicians. He does not even respect the records of the deceased parents of the said Filipino Movie King. Appropriate charges should be filed against him and let him name who was the mastermind. It is important that the Filipino masses must be informed who were the big people behind him.
There were times, I prefer not to read the newspaper nor watch the news anymore:
I am sick and tired of these unscrupulous officials... really!
2nd Barangay Meeting
Friday, January 30, 2004
I arrived on time and have waited for my turn to be called. I wasn't really feeling well but have to be there because it's my fight.
As expected, the broker didn't showed up. She knew she does not have any argument to present anymore. I had the copy of her Affidavit of Adverse Claim which was instrument to the inclusion of her claim in my property title.
The Lupong Tagapamayapa wondered why my title was "claimed" by someone without even presenting a Contract To Sell. They, too, believed that some people at Registry of Deeds might get involved in the case.
Another meeting is set on Friday, February 6, 2004.

The Affidavit of Adverse Claim
The certified true copies of the broker's Affidavit of Adverse Claim (Entry No. 3123) and my tampered title are in my possession at 2:30 this afternoon. Definitely, she lied in her sworn statement nos. 3 and 4:
3. That on the agreed date, the undersigned Affiant/Claimant wish to have the full amount of considerations be paid to Laila*, but the latter said that she's no longer interested on disposing to the undersigned the said property;
4. The herein Affiant/Claimant demanded that her earnest money be back but the latter refuses to return the earnest money paid by the undersigned.
Tomorrow, in our second meeting, she has to explain these claims before the Lupong Tagapamayapa, and if she does not apologize to me for her malicious actions, I will continue filing a case against her, including the possible cancellation of her license.
It is very unfortunate we have to end it this way...
Notice Of Hearing
Wednesday, January 28, 2004
I received this morning a notice of hearing (Conciliation Proceeding) from Office of the Lupong Tagapamayapa to be held on Friday, January 30, at 9:00 o'clock in the morning, same place, to appear before the Group of Three who will hear our case.
Things are getting serious and deeper...
Later in the afternoon, I went to a Law Office and sought for advice. The lawyer asked me to request for the copy of the Adverse Claim and send it by fax, if I cannot come personally. He wants to know if there is perjury on the part of the broker's claim.
I am saddened why these things should happened. We fought real hard not to loan money nor use our property title as collateral because we want it clean and free from any encumbrances. Then all of a sudden, this broker would claim possession of our property after failure on her part to persuade me to sell it by installment.
Whatever happens, there is definitely something to learn out from this current situation...
Stupid Suggestion
Tuesday, January 27, 2004
We're busy looking for previous victims by the broker/buyer who can possiblly stand as my witness against this person. In good faith, I want to help those innocent homeowners find justice. Life is real hard these days and to be a victim of these mean people victimizing those who are in dire need is unforgiveable.
In the meantime, my bestfriend informed me that she saw the company calendar of this broker/buyer on the walls of Registry of Deeds in Parañaque City. This only means that the culprit is somewhat influential in that office, no wonder she got a claim against my property without due process.
Furthermore, my bestfriend received a call from a close friend of the said broker/buyer and persuading my bestfriend to write a promissory note that we are willing to return the money should we sell the property BUT, she told her NO NEED TO INFORM ME ABOUT IT.
My brows and voice raised high, what the hell do they think of us? What a stupid suggestion. Earnest money is earnest money! It is not a loan! It is subject to forfeiture in 30 days upon failure on the buyer's side to pay the promised amount. Too many chances have been given YET the broker/buyer lured us to believe that there was CASH money enough to pay me on due date BUT, no payment has been done until to-this-date AND her interest to take possession of my property remains, it was made clear when she filed for adverse claim before LRA.
The buyer/broker is in the real state business for ten years now, I just wonder why she didn't know the rules... until she kept pretending of her innocense, she is giving us the opportunity to gather and investigate about her scums, and if ever some government officials might get involved here, I did not mean to harm anyone, I JUST WANT MY TITLE BE CLEARED.
Mail Virus Alert!
My mail server sent me this:
Have detected a virus (WORM_MIMAIL.R) in your mail traffic on 01/27/2004 with an action deleted.
For over ten times, I kept receiving the same warning and if you received mail with subject line TEST or with file attachment TEST.ZIP, please do not open it for your safety!
NetRefund Follow-up
Monday, January 26, 2004
So impatient when Meralco would call us to pickup the netrefund, I tried to call all their three numbers this morning and yet all their lines were busy. There were cases that it will just kept on ringing and no one dares to answer the phone!
What I did, I called Meralco Hotline 16211 and guess what? They forwarded my call to Alabang Branch in split seconds and I talked with a certain Mark Infante who gave me a tentative date on February 3 and by then a Citibank crossed-check under my name will be available!
My bestfriend asked me last Sunday why she does not receive any schedule yet from Meralco. I explained to her that consumers who are scheduled for this month are those consuming electricity between 301-320 KWH average per month. And, since her consumption monthly is about 3,000 KWH (maybe more, because she runs a water business), her refund might be scheduled by 2011 :-)
When Parañaque City had water problems earlier, we paid so much for deepwell maintenance and electricity. But, the improvement of water system in the subdivision through its privatization helped us a lot. From 2,000 KWH monthly consumption, it went down between 300-350 KWH a month.
However, the meter reader asked few questions on what appliances do we have and also, Meralco electricians made thorough inspection of our premises because our bill dropped more than half of what we normally paid in the past. They probably suspected a jumper had something to do with it and, to remove their doubts, I showed them the deepwell and told them how tired we were on maintaining it.

Wish I Could Run For President... Part X
Saturday, January 24, 2004
When Manila Auxiliary Bishop Socrates Villegas said he had given up on the country's dishonest and corrupt politicians as "Politicians have abused and betrayed people power." And in his 20-minute homily, called on Filipinos to save the nation from them IS a clear message that the Arroyo government and her cronies are not sincere in protecting the interest of the public but, rather, to place this country in big embarassment when one of her man was caught tampering Poe's documents.
Like Bishop Villegas, I wish to call not only the attention of all Filipinos here and abroad but, also ask your conscience, how far can you take these leaders? They are not good role models and should be removed from their posts immediately to restore integrity of government agencies they are serving.
I'd like to congratulate the three brave employees, Vicelyn Tarin, Remmel Talabis, and Emman Llamera of National Archives who disclosed the alleged fabrication of documents to make it appear Poe was not a Filipino citizen. I know how tough it is for them to move forward putting at risks not only their lives but also the lives of their families. I am proud of you!!! And, to Manapat, whether someone forced you or threathened your life to do this act, may God enlightened you to be brave enough like your employees to tell the truth and save this country from further embarassment. Have you not thought what your children and relatives are thinking about you now? Who is that big FISH behind you?
If Manapat was able to do this without even thinking the consequences and the scandal of his action, how many more Directors and Chairmen of government agencies are faking reports to make it appear that PGMA's government is doing great achievements and performances? If this is the case, who can we rely now for the accuracy of what's really going on in this country?
Do we have to wait for the May Election to remove Arroyo from her office? I am desperate being a mother of three kids, how I wish I could do something for the good of this country. Do you feel the same way, too?
Barangay Meeting Attended
I went to the Barangay, voted The Cleanest Barangay in Parañaque in 2003 by MMDA, this morning and attended a meeting in response to my complaint against the broker/buyer who filed for Adverse Claim against my property title before LRA - Parañaque Branch.
At exactly 9:00 o'clock in the morning, I arrived on time, but lots of complainants/respondents came before me. I was asked to sign the complaint sheet and advised me to wait until my name is called. Monoblock chairs were provided outside the Lupon Tagapamayapa Hearing Room. I could feel the heat of the sun but I patiently waited.
Fifteen minutes before ten, the culprit arrived and someone shouted, "Oh, she's a hustler!" As soon as she saw me, she tagged me many names infront of other people, defended herself as the innocent party... and I told her to calm down, have a seat and save all those words as I'd like to deal with the dispute professionally and very briefly. Guilt did not silenced her and she kept talking to her seatmate but, I kept my cool and didn't bother to reply back.
At last, we were called in... we're asked to have a seat and asked to wait awhile. Before our turn, my bestfriend came in. The arbiter called our attention to come forward and before saying anything, I brought the Bible and my favorite rosary out of my paper bag and placed it on the table in between the respondent and me. My message was clear: if you can lie to the arbiter, you cannot lie to God.
When documents were presented, the arbiter questioned the broker for insinuating a new term of payment without following what's written in the receipt which I acknowledged in September, and that she should not blamed me if her acts prompted me to cancel the deal and forfeit the earnest money given to me in September 20 last year (as part of it were forfeited when we took a 3 BR 3 T & B 3-storey townhouse based on her request to move out of my property before end of September). Discussion went farther but, I could feel that justice is on my side. Stiffed enough on her stand that I must return the earnest money, we signed the complaint sheet (which I earlier signed when I arrived) THAT we both didn't like to make amicable settlement and the case will be elevated to court for further argument.
My bestfriend attended the hearing with us and she's the key witness to all the transaction I made with the said broker. We walked home and continued the discussion. There is one problem though, whether to get a lawyer or not, and how much money, time and effort the case will cost me as the court proceeding in this country takes years and the inconvenience it will brought me should someone would like to buy my property, I cannot sell it until Adverse Claim is lifted null and void. Although I didn't like to end up seeking for a lawyer's assistance, sometimes, it's not about the money we are fighting for here but the principle, who is doing the right thing and who is taking advantage of the aggrieved party.
At home, an hour later, my bestfriend called, and told me that the broker admitted that she's on the losing side and that she's willing to sell my property AGAIN and be given another chance so that she can offset the amount from the total sale. Surprised with her change of heart, I shrugged my shoulders - that's the earlier agreement when the broker asked for another chance and yet, she maliciously made adverse claim on my property to harass me!
I reminded my bestfriend that once I file the case to court, the broker cannot enter into any agreement with us again as long as my property is concerned. Also, as long as she didn't cancel her Adverse Claim on my title, I will continue with the case and let the court decide how much she should pay me for the damages, defamatory remarks and inconveniences for the much delayed sale of my house and lot. And, whoever in the LRA office assisted the broker to facilitate Adverse Claim stamping on my title without my due consent, will be mentioned in this case too... (I still have to check LRA the validity of this claim)
In God's guidance, I know the light will shed on my path and so be it....
Very Touching Scene
Friday, January 23, 2004
I was in tears while watching the Winter Sonata soap opera (telenovela) this evening. My kids were laughing at me for being so emotional. I would get mad with the writer if Janice didn't see Joseph inside the airport...
Whatever happens in the next episode, SPCNet Reviews knew that it has a sad ending but, I'd like to follow it's nightly episode, it's where the thrill is...

Winter Sonata Photo Blog
Tuesday, January 20, 2004
Endless Love II Photo Blog - A Winter Sonata Collection is up and successfully running now but, it uses so much bandwith considering that I recently upgraded my Plan ten days ago and looks like I need to upgrade again.
To limit bandwith sharing, I turned on hotlink protection and to those who are complaining why my links are not working, you have probably installed the links directly on your site.
My ladylaila.net/blog, by the way, is now one month old today and thank you for being a part of this blog!
Got No Choice But...
Monday, January 19, 2004
With the broker's recent harassment when she filed for adverse claim against my property before Land Registration Authority - Parañaque Branch, I decided to file for DAMAGES at the Barangay this morning to end all those defamatory remarks she made prior to her failure to comply with the agreement which resulted in the forfeiture of the earnest money given in September last year. There was a bad intention to fool and tempt us to enter into a contract to buy my property despite the fact that they didn't have enough cash to pay me in full, and later to lure me in accepting whatever amount they want to give me and the rest of the amount will be payable for one year AND what's worst, I was given ten days only to vacate my property! Anyone can easily foretell the motives into rushing us to vacate our house - so that I couldn't say NO to anything they offer.
I'm a peaceful person and do not have intention to make money out of sweat of others and I expect the same from other people as well. For my kids' sakes, I must protect our interest and I had no choice but to complain about her acts...
In this life's journey, I am dismayed to see people like this kind... and, if you are planning to sell your property to survive in this difficult time, be careful and be sure that everything you agreed upon will be written in black and white.
Endless Love II Update
Sunday, January 18, 2004
Due to couple of mails I received from Endless Love II - Winter Sonata fanatics, I decided to separate a blog for it and have created a photoblog yesterday entitled A Winter Sonata Collection. I still have to edit its templates and resolve some code issues as it conflicts with this blog (I think).
Here is the lnik - www.ladylaila.net/winter_sonata - and hope you will be patient enough and don't flood me with complaints if some files are not working properly. Just try to refresh/reload the page and if things didn't work, then let me know what page is not working, ok?
For now, enjoy and have fun....
We are all addicted to this GAME!
Wish I Could Run For President... Part IX
Saturday, January 17, 2004
What you didn't know will not hurt you. Are you happy as a Filipino?
Negative campaigns and disqualification moves were signs that the current administration is desperate enough to be the sole qualified presidential candidate in the May 10 Polls IF really there will be an election. I have not heard any one in the neighborhood that they will vote for PGMA, how about in your neighborhood? Would you still vote for her? Are you still willing to suffer another 6 years with this messy government? The people running this government said something differently than their actions... kind of two face clown...
PGMA's vow to shift to parliamentary government shows that she (and the people behind her) are very much eager to stay in power and run this country longer....
Do we have to resort to manual counting of votes after paying billions of pesos to automated election contract? How far do we have to take all these poor and embarassing performances by our leaders?
Meralco Net Refund Still Unclaimed
Friday, January 16, 2004
My daughter claimed our Meralco Net Refund today but she just brought home a piece of paper that says:
Your check will be available after twelve (12) to fifteen (15) working days. Should you wish to verify if your check is ready for pick-up, you may call us at the following tel. nos. 6328714; 6328491; or 8099928.
Please look for MS. SARAH AVEGAIL MENDOZA.
Meralco pays cash for net refunds below PHP4,000.00 and, although I didn't like to wait for another two weeks, as usual, Meralco is unfair for holding our money that long.
They took my latest Meralco bill and furious because I always file my bills, I registered myself with Meralco website to keep track of my record. To register, you will be required to submit your Meralco details.
Category RSS Added
Many thanks to Girlie's Tips about how to generate RSS feeds by category. I was able to add the codes on all templates and category entries are now RSS readable.
Next I'd like to know is how to make a template for my side links entries. I am tired of updating each template whenever I add a link or did some changes.
Calendar provided here is not working properly and I still need to find the right codes to make it work perfectly. Sometimes, it didn't highlight the current date. Maybe some of you noticed that and will try my best to fix this problem.
To those who would like to use movable type program but didn't know how to install it on their server, Abe might be able to help you as he was the one who installed this program in my behalf.
Right To Adverse Claim?
Thursday, January 15, 2004
I received this morning a Notice of Adverse Claim which was filed by the broker, RRE, dated on November 25, 2003 before the office of Land Registration Authority (LRA) - Parañaque, signed by Atty. Bautista pursuant to Section 47 of PD 1529, stated that I surrender the title of my property for them to annotate it prior to claim of Ms. Eufemio that I must return the earnest money they gave in September 2003 after their failure to pay us in CASH resulted to BREACH OF VERBAL AGREEMENT while she failed to draft a written contract of our agreement.
They wanted me to vacate my property as soon as they pay us. With the small amount I received from her representing earnest money which was used when I entered into a contract with Bustamante's to lease their 3 storey 3 BR 3 T & B Townhouse. Even they have not pay anything yet other than earnest money, I was pressured to move out immediately upon receipt of house payment, end of September as the owner didn't like to pay another rent of the house they currently occupying. Only to find out that when we're set to move out, they didn't have enough money to pay, and would like instead to enter into a one-year installment term contract which was shocking because the bargain price I gave her was for CASH PAYMENT ONLY.
Bad rumors spread around and concerned friends confirmed the matter to me which upset me, things would have been black and white should they pay only in CASH and we are most willing to move out to start a new life and move on...
Wherever this case will take us... with clean conscience, I wish not to take a lawyer's service, will sought kind-hearted authorities assistance that this claim is not valid as earnest money is automatically forfeited in case payment is not received on specified date. Due consideration was given to RRE in several occassions and I am still open to her, if she only kept her words to bring a new buyer who can pay us in CASH, she can still make a claim with the amount she earlier gave us. Unfortunately, I am being harrassed now at the expense of Parañaque authorities and she claimed she was cheated!
I believe this is the main reason why I have severe depression lately and have gained weight again for the past couple of months! But, anyway, God is watching us... and, we will be fine, I am sure of that.
Special thanks to Brother Rommel Salvacion who warned us not to move out unless we duly received the amount due us. He told me he had lots of friends who had lost their properties and were unable to receive full payment.
In this country full of fakes, scams and name it, we have it... we cannot trust anyone except God and ourselves only!

Mild Accident
Tuesday, January 13, 2004
I was cleaning the chandelier in the dining room when I miscalculated my steps while standing on the table and I fell to the floor, together with glass pitcher and some plates. It happened in split seconds and I couldn't believe my right foot was bleeding! I felt some numbness while cleaning my cuts, most were about 1 cm in size. I got scared in case my wounds would leave some marks but I tried to keep calm, stop its bleeding and no matter how much my kids pressured me to wash my foot with water, I couldn't move from where I fall because broken glasses were scattered around the carpet and with just one mistake, I might have another accident. I treated myself with alcohol and cotton only. It took me about 5 hours to completely stop the bleeding because the wounds bleed whenever I walk.
Although I cannot walk normally as I used to, I thanked God, it wasn't a serious one! Guess we have to wait until next week before my kids and I can watch Lord of the Rings...

Wish I Could Run For President... Part VIII
Saturday, January 10, 2004
The biggest anomaly and the most disappointing one that happened this week is the inclusion of Santiago's People's Reform Party and officially now a part of the PGMA's K4 - Koalisyon ng Karanasan at Katapatan sa Kinabukasan (Coalition of Truth and Experience for the Future) completing the 12 senatorial ticket of PGMA. Truly in politics, there is no permanent friends nor enemies, just interests.
An adverse decision of the Supreme Court on the automation contract would possibly push back the elections by two months1
"If it becomes a law, we have to follow it. We have to adjust. If we can't do it, we'll tell them we can't do it." - Benjamin Abalos, Comelec Chairperson
PGMA pushes for Charter Change (ChaCha), "Our present form of government has many gridlocks, which have become a hindrance to our socio-economic growth." Pushing for the passage of a bill that would pave the way for the election of delegates to a constitutional convention simultaneously with the May 10 elections which under the measure, the president who would be elected in May would reportedly serve as a "transition" leader until the change in the form of government was completed.2
Senator Rodolfo Biazon, who defected to the administration party to become one of its senatorial candidates, said the President's six-year term could not
legally be abbreviated. 3
Heherson Alvarez has described the senatorial listing as "ungguyan" (monkeying around), a by-product of "political opportunism." Teresita Baltazar of Konsensyang Pilipino (Filipino Conscience) said her group was not "delirious with joy" over the President's "realpolitik" and the "compromises" she was making for political ends.4
Palace rejects poll showing the president behind rivals, a survey made by the IBON Foundation showed Poe topping the presidential race, jumping from third slot in the last survey.5
"I'm appealing to the lieutenants of (President Arroyo) to be a sport and exercise decency," Presidential aspirant Eddie Villanueva of the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) movement said, adding that his disqualification from the presidential race would only strengthen "public suspicion" that Malacañang is hitting back because he rejected its offer to run as Mrs. Arroyo's vice president in exchange for his withdrawal from the race.6
A petition was filed before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to disqualify FPJ from the presidential race claiming he is not a Filipino citizen! In a
seven-page petition, lawyer Victorino X. Fornier said that Poe should be disqualified since he is not a natural-born Filipino citizen as the actor's parents were both foreigners and cited the 1935 Constitution which he said was applicable at the time of Poe's birth.7
With all these that had happened this week, I believe we need foreign countries' help to closely monitor the political situations here in the Philippines!

Collecting Meralco Refund
I called Meralco Hotline 16211 and asked for requirements needed in claiming our refund. And, I was disappointed when "Jo" of Meralco Customer Service informed me that they will require 2 valid IDs of my authorized representative plus my valid ID before we can claim our refund.
So, to those who are planning to fall in line and collect your cash, be sure to bring the following with you (NO EXCUSES):
- Original copy of your latest Meralco Bill with refund schedule
- Your valid ID
- 2 valid ID of your representative plus Letter of Authorization
- Xerox copies of your IDs and Meralco Bill
If you forgot to bring any one of these requirements, they will not honor your claim. So, be guided accordingly and be smart enough...
NOTE: You cannot claim any cash if the bill is not under your name.
Future BlogShares Billionaires
Friday, January 09, 2004
On BlogShares News' Press Release made by Afonso on behalf of Mar Português:
Please don't write more posts about Portugal. Aggie and Laila are the lucky winners and will both get 200 billion. I know I said 400 billion, but after some googling I decided this was the best decision.
I have read Aggie's Macau blog, Arvind's Under The Weather, and, Berry's A Portuguese Twist and I believe we all did our best and it would be fair enough if we would divide the B$400 billion equally...
I had mixed emotions when Afonso told me that the B$400 billion is mine. But, I told him to give more time to other bloggers to blog about Portugal. Afterall, I am currently contented with the B$4 million which I am using to buy shares of newcomers' weblogs. It's nice to be an instant billionaire, especially if that happens in real life, BUT, once I received his billions it would mean ONE THING: he's leaving Blogshares! Whether it's true that he just want some time off from BlogShares, I am saddened about his early vacation plans...
Although I was surprised with Afonso's initiative, I was deeply touched with his kindness when he included in his press release about sponsorship of my BlogShares membership. It is very unfortunate that we do not have PayPal yet in the Philippines and my only chance to enjoy unlimited transactions is when BlogShares include me once they give away FREE PREMIUM MEMBERSHIPS again to selected members.
By all means, I am wishing you goodluck, Afonso...
Wish List: A Journey To Portugal
Thursday, January 08, 2004
All it takes is a little imagination and a little bit of magic...
The 16th edition of Bolsa de Turismo de
Lisboa - BTL (Lisboa Travel Market), will host the first tourism fair in the european circuit with 480 stands, 46,800 visitors and more than 60 countries represented between January 21 and 25 at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa, Park of the Nations. The fair will offer delicacies from all around the country, and how I wish to go there and have an excellent opportunity not only to savour Portugal's regional cuisine but also experience the warmth of Portuquese hospitality and their culture.
If I cannot visit this month, I still have time to prepare for a greater opportunity to watch the UEFA EURO 2004 Final Tournament since Portugal is a host for the European Soccer Championship which will take place between June 12 and July 4 this year where Sérgio Conceição hopes 2004 will see Portugal's 'golden generation' finally match their billing. Match schedule and competition informations are also provided at euro2004.com. Euro 2004 Packages with Tickets are now available online.
I checked out popular tours and affordable accomodations at Portugal Online Travel and I believe I will save more time, money and effort if I will get a professional Guided Tour to enjoy breathtaking scenic views, visit historical places and understand well the country's culture. I believe accomodation is not a problem since Pousadas of Portugal, or Pousadas de Portugal, are a group of over 40 exclusive hotels, located throughout the country. The two types of Pousadas are: Historical Pousadas, which are located in national monuments, convents, castles, or fortresses; and Regional Pousadas, which are found in areas of spectacular natural or historic beauty. See Map of Pousadas
Ah! I missed those days when travelling was only a common escapade, we packed and leave whenever we feel the urge to escape from busy life. Well, those were the days. I therefore invite you to join me to write an interesting blog about Portugal to qualify for the B$400,000,000,000 gift from Afonso.
Now the deal (of Afonso) on behalf of Mar Português:
Write a small post in your blog about Portugal. Not the common stuff. Everyone knows we have great wines, lots of sun, excelent beaches and a warm people. You will have to be more creative than that.
As soon as the (BS) market reopens you will get your billions. Reply to this message with a link to your post.
BlogShares is a fantasy market and most of the stuffs we do online are somewhat not real too... but, the beauty of Portugal and its people are...
Others might write a better blog about Portugal but what matters here is I discovered many facts about Afonso's country, isn't that amazing? And, to know the countries I already visited, please click here.
Goodluck to all...
Meralco Refund Update
Wednesday, January 07, 2004
I'm not aware if all Meralco consumers receive their Phase 3 refund this month but as far as I am concerned, I am grateful they made my day when I received my bill this morning and I had nothing to pay for December power consumption, as the amount due was P 0.00! Although it surprises me that the bill was the highest in twelve months, with over P500 amount difference, I thanked God Meralco overcharged us for the last ten years! At least, in the next couple of months, we will not pay our electric bills prior to Phase 3 refund... wish I don't have to pay for the whole year!
It's inexplicable though how we consumed more electricity last month... were those Christmas lights consumed so much electricity?
BlogShares Update
Since I registered with BlogShares - a fantasy stock market for weblogs 7 days ago, it had a 143962.25% growth in net worth. Started with B$500 investment plus 1,750 Slashdot.org shares given by Afonso, some shares were sold to mars/iris Securities and The Geek using different artefacts (like Reality Distortion Field, Tux, Master Hacker, Improbability Drive, Glasses, Experiment, Network Engineer, Killer app, Oxford Dictionary and Scoop) during Hostile takeover and Restructure of Slashdot.org.
I still do not understand well what's going on but I will blog the figures here later to save time opening my BlogShares Records. In the meantime, I'm off for lunch now...
If you haven't play yet on BlogShares, give it a try. I still haven't figure out all these but willing to explore what other bloggers are doing with it...
Virus Identified
Shaneb posted at computing.net a similar problem and both our computers' systems were infected at the same time, same date. The offending file was called by Shaneb a seeker variant and his system was infected when he apparently hit OK in one of the windows popup messages instead of CANCEL. Well, you guys out there, watch out what you click...
Going through the same experience Shaneb had, my Sweety Pearl patiently cleaned computer's system and found out that whenever she uses Internet Explorer browser and search the net, she's redirected by the virus to the same site over and over again. I blamed her why she kept using Explorer while Netscape and Firebird Mozilla browsers are installed too for safer browsing. With this lesson, I hope, will convince her in using my favorite browsers instead of Explorer!
The malicious file was detected running under program name System Explorer, directory C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\SERVICES\EXPLORE.EXE
Process File: explore or explore.exe
Process Name: Explore.exe
Description: Added to the System as a result of the GRAYBIRD.G VIRUS!
Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): Yes
Common Errors: N/A
If you encountered the same problems lately, chances are your computer system is infected also with this offending file but, hopefully, these links might help you get through with it:
My eldest son refused to believe until now that the malicious file was a trojan virus. My daughter and I decided not to argue about it anymore, since my son never writes a trojan virus ever, not like my daughter. The ancient maxim says, "It takes a thief to catch another thief."
With this kind of inconvenience, how I wish I have a laptop for personal use and to keep my files safer... anyway, glad our computer is now disinfected from explore.exe and many thanks to Shaneb's contribution in posting his bad experience with this seeker variant file!
Detected Trojan Virus
Tuesday, January 06, 2004
For about a week now, we have had some problems with our computer. Windows kept crashing at startup and I had no choice except to logon to windowsXP. Low hard disk space was detected in Drive C and a desk.txt with file size of 1.9 GB was created eating up all free hard disk space. Win XPs system restore was disabled to prevent further creation of the same suspected file over and over again. My son showed me that when he diagnosed PC's system using System Mechanic in win98, 2 system explore programs were actively running, along with legitimate Explorer. My son blamed me for installing a lot of programs lately, including upgrading to Explorer 6! He deleted desk.txt and removed explore.exe and iexplore.exe from registry.
At the wee hours in the morning, daughter discovered the same file was running again and windows kept crashing. She suspected it was a trojan virus accidentally installed by one of us on 28th December 2003 at 10:00 o'clock in the morning.
This was the reason why I had misunderstanding also with my daughter on the 30th which prompted her to celebrate the New Year with her friend, Kyle, in Laguna. When I browsed the history of all files between 28Dec2003 and 05Jan2004, it showed that she downloaded Norton Anti-virus on the 29th. I therefore concluded that she knew about the problem and was trying to resolve it without even telling me. But, I was so stern when I scolded her for accidentally deleting files that's associated in connecting to the net.
We're hoping that we had finally removed this virus that kept eating free hard disk space and storing all temp files on desk.txt. If you know anything about this virus, I will appreciate if you can enlighten us on this matter...
Whoever is the source of this virus, I do not know the wisdom in sending this to us but, it caused me a broken heart on New Year's Eve because I welcomed it without my beloved daughter...
Today is my eldest sister's birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AT!!!
Wish I Could Run For President... Part VII
Saturday, January 03, 2004
Disappointed with Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson's action when he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for President under LDP banner with Commission on Election (Comelec) on Monday, majority of the Filipinos who were hoping he would run as FPJ's running mate for vice-presidential post were saddened because he finally divided the opposition, favoring PGMA.
Dismayed with Bro. Eddie's initiative also, the founder of Jesus is Lord Movement, I believe he is an effective preacher and he should remain giving enlightenment to his followers by preaching the words of God and it would be better if he keeps politics away from his agenda. In my personal opinion, I believe Bro. Mike has more chances of uniting the Filipino people than you, Bro. Eddie. I am not aware what those Muslim Filipinos are thinking about you now. Not even Jesus Christ in his times had thought of ruling, so, why you have this sudden call?
Now that the 64 yr. old FPJ officially files his bid for President with his running mate, Sen. Loren Legarda, 43, rift widened, as Estrada supporters want Legarda to make a public apology, who as senator supported the ouster of President Joseph Estrada, FPJ's bosom friend!
Aren't the opposition wanted one standard bearer? Why these personalities cannot set aside personal interest and differences in aspiring for presidential post and just choose one among them who can possibly forge unity in a nation divided since EDSA started. Majority of the Filipinos didn't have confidence in PGMA anymore, if the opposition will not do something until Monday, I'm afraid PGMA has more chances of keeping her seat and, let's expect another six years of hopelessness and double standard of justice. Did you read the news when Estrada says Sandiganbayan forced him to sign letter that he was submitting himself to the jurisdiction of the Sandiganbayan anti-graft court trying him with plunder and graft charges due to the worsening health situation?
The nation needs one good man to change the current administration.
Last day for COC filing is on Monday, January 5th, more surprises and disappointments coming up... how I wish PGMA will not run anymore to save government funds from being diverted into her candidacy, who else would want Gloria to remain in office?
