Mild PC Problem

Sunday, February 29, 2004

I had difficulty this week loading windows this is why I am not very much online. We suspected it was the video card that caused the crash and my son told me it could be its fan. Tired of waiting until PC will load windows successfully, I called tech support of Starapple Computers if they are selling fan for video card. 'Though I was disappointed with his answer, he told me that the fan will still work if cleaned thoroughly.

My eldest son fixed it and for how many days it will be working fine, I am hopeful it will last long enough until I resolve some important issues. Somehow, should my son leaves for employment abroad, I will surely miss him...

Socializing...

Saturday, February 28, 2004

My best friend, Vera, invited me on her hubby's 48th birthday celebration in her stepfather's house just few blocks away from my house. She said they had no plans of holding any parties but, when couple of friends dropped by, they started serving foods and called me to join them.

I'd thought it would be a reunion with my neighbors but she didn't invite anyone last night except me. I had nice time with Vera's colleagues who were wives of current and past presidents of Rotary Club of Parañaque. Our favorite subject was politics! I was surprised that 3 among them prefer Gloria Arroyo for president while another one believes the same way I do when it comes to changing the current administration. And who is our favorite? Well... uhmmm... secret!

The over-all campaign manager of Olivares (For Mayor) was there too and I openly told the ladies I might vote for Bernabe instead. Both Moreno and Olivares served the people of Parañaque as First Lady and Mayor, respectively. I am anxious to see what changes Bernabe will do to improve our city...

To Lito, Happy 48th Birthday, wishing you and Vera the best!

Wish I Could Run For President... Part XV

I find the section of Eleksyon 2004, an INQ7.net's special site on the 2004 elections, featuring Candidates on Issues, is a very interesting, useful, and informative section that would help each Filipino voters be enlightened who among the six presidentiables, namely: Bro. Meanwhile, efforts to disqualify FPJ is still on-going but, should this gentleman be disqualified, rumors abound that the Filipino people will rise against PGMA. Here are some interesting newsmakers for this week:

Posting about this category had been neglected due to legal matters that kept me occupied for the past couple of weeks. The missing parts will be posted real soon...

Online Dispute Resolution

Friday, February 27, 2004

Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) sounds like a dream and claimed this technology will allow Filipinos to settle cases faster online instead of financing long litigations in courts and are done through electronic mail, video conferencing or online chat:

Leung Seng Onn, executive director of the non-profit organization Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC), said Filipinos can turn to ODR to settle disputes, according to I.T. Matters News, "Filipinos spend years to see a case to its end but what they actually want sometimes is an apology and an acceptable offer at the end of the day. ODR makes this possible." READ MORE

Wish I could avail of this ODR instead of dealing with the inconvenience of attending Prosecutor's hearing...

Evangel Baptist Church

Sunday, February 22, 2004

Leila Baque, my inaanak, invited me on their Evangel Baptist Church's 31st Anniversary today. It's a small group of born-again faithfuls who gather together every Saturdays and Sundays, along with their family members and loved ones to praise God, know His words, and to interact and communicate with fellow members (fellowship).

The last time the veteran pastors had seen me was in November 1988, almost 16 years ago, when I attended Leila's wedding. I was one of the sponsors or Ninang.

The children in the gathering outnumbered adults, who both performed their numbers in praising God. There were times we were asked to stand up and sing praises to God and they set up a game that no one is allowed to say "yes" or "no", "oo" or "hindi", "okay" and nodding head. Those who answered the forbidden words were asked to sign on a heart-shaped cartolina with their names on it and someone who gathered 33 signatures on a heart won a prize which was given later at the end of the celebration. There were "pabitin" and hitting "palayok" for both adults and children after the food was served. I enjoyed watching them having fun and forgot all about my "troubles" for a while. Somehow, I missed my children's presence but, they're grown-ups now and have different interests.

I honestly appreciate Leila's gesture and hospitality, and Happy 31st Anniversary to all Evangel Baptist Church's pastors and members!

Ladies Wanted

ATTENTION LADIES:

Are you ready to raise a family and currently looking for an extraordinary man? Try this man.

You have to fill up a form and see if you are qualified. Goodluck!

Very Briefly...

Friday, February 20, 2004

Three of my daily entries are saved in a draft and will publish them at the right time. So far, we're doing fine and well...

This message from a certain Chilli of Celestial Planet of Enlightened Minds @ YahooGroups reminds me of MLT (you know who you are):

Acceptance must come along with Judgemental attitudes. To accept another as they are is the true way of maturity. How do we perceive others? Do we Judge them by first hand knowledge of knowing them personally or do we judge them by hearsay and gossip? Who actually gave any of us the right to judge another human being anyhow? "It is not our call!"

Creator, on this day please help me to be more accepting to do your will and not be judgemental like my self will. Help me to understand that no human being has any right to judge another.

$650 Worth of Coins in Man's Stomach?

If you are depressed, what are the unusual things or habits do you do to alleviate your pains and misery?

While Imbestigador featured a Filipina about two weeks ago who had a habit of biting and swallowing her hair when depressed, a 62-year-old man who had a history of major psychiatric illness had swallowed around 350 coins -- $650 worth -- along with assorted necklaces and needles, which French doctors discovered as the reason for a patient's sore, swollen belly. READ MORE

CNN.com described the patient's rare condition - called pica - a compulsion to eat things not normally consumed as food. Its name comes from the Latin word for magpie, a bird thought to eat just about anything.

Somehow, I still consider myself normal when depressed except that I overeat (normal food) and blog more than once a day OR not at all...

Pray Until Something Happens

Wednesday, February 18, 2004

I have read this a lot of times and did not paid so much attention until today, when it is necessary that I must P.U.S.H.

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and God appeared. The Lord told the man He had work for him to do and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin.

The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might. So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all of his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (Satan),decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind:"You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn't moved." Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort, and that will be good enough. That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord.

"Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. Is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewy and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom.

That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock." At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just a simple obedience and faith in Him.By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God who moves mountains.

When everything seems to go wrong...just P.U.S.H.!

When the job gets you down... just P.U.S.H.!

When people don't react the way you think they should... just P.U.S.H.

When your money is "gone" and the bills are due... just P.U.S.H!

When people just don't understand you... just P.U.S.H.

Pray Until Something Happens...

I know this might sound "corny" to some but, each and everyone of us has its own time and calling and for those who need to P.U.S.H. like me, do not hesitate to do so...

Love is...

Whenever someone asked me what does LOVE means, I immediately replied with a naughty grin, "Love is... is an ocean of emotions entirely surrounded with expenses!"

Although I find it true, somehow, to me, LOVE is like water. Water? Why not say love is like a flower, as defined by most people? Love is like a flower because, according to them, it needs love and care or it dies. Well, obviously it sounds a selfish love to seek attention and it's life span seems so short.

Happy Valentine's Day To All

LOVE is like water because water seek its own level, aside from the fact that water is an integral part of life.

LOVE is so complex that I find it best compared with water, because water, as we know, has many cycles. Each cycle drives the other parts.

In Scientific concepts, there are six important processes that make up the water cycle. We know them as evaporation, condensation, precipitation, surface runoff, infiltration and transpiration.

LOVE is in evaporation when the feeling is so strong and the more you control it, the more it becomes stronger, seeking that other person, no matter what happens...

LOVE is in a condesation when there is nothing in your thoughts except that person, forming like a cloud, making yourself "blinded" at times...

LOVE is in precipitation when you cannot help but shower that person you love with attention and affection...

LOVE is in its surface runoff when your feelings are flowing energies, accepting anything about that person...

LOVE is in infiltration state when you finally settled your feelings with that person, where impurities and imperfections are filtered out...

LOVE is in transpiration state when your feelings grow much stronger, creating life, and that life created binds you together...

And the process never-ends, love never dies. Love sometimes stay longer in one state but love will always be there, waiting to be noticed...

It's Friday, the 13th!

I had been pretty busy with my 5-page counter-affidavit and, I barely noticed that tomorrow will be the 14th, it's Valentine's Day once again.

Or, maybe because there is no one special to remind me of the importance of this day. I forgot to write also about Bernard's Valentine's day tips. For those busy people out there, surprise your loved ones with extra ordinary treatment on this LOVE DAY!

$windling???

Wednesday, February 11, 2004

Swindling? Why not? This is a free country and anyone can say and do whatever they want. If they can ouster the legitimate President of the Philippines, no wonder someone can annotate my property title with falsified evidence and still has the guts to accuse me of $windling as form of harassment. How much is the fine nowadays for the falsification of documents? Ah! Maybe Manapat knows?

Kidding aside, Swindling is the case filed against me by the broker/buyer of my property simply after she failed to persuade me to accept her one year installment scheme when she lured me to sell my property to her NET price believing she had cash to pay. She took revenge by annotating the title of my property and this morning, I received eight (8) page copy of subpoena, affidavit of complaint with attachments from the Prosecutors Office and is thereby asking my warm presence on the 19th and 26th of February at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon, then and there to testify under oath or to clarificatory questions. Signed by the 2nd Asst. Prosecutor, City of Parañaque.

The affidavit has full of blah blah blah and allegations can easily be corrected with Annexes of pains and sufferings which I will submit together with my counter-affidavit. I was the one supposed to file against her that SWINDLING case but since she has the resources available, she twisted justice. As preliminary hearing will start next week, I will refrain blogging about the court's proceedings for security purposes.

Somehow, I was LUCKY and THANKFUL that I did not trust her words otherwise, I had lost the house and probably begging her to pay me the remaining balance. Should in the event you find this blog neglected and not updated like before, I request pious readers of this blog to start praying for my soul...

Questioned Document?

Tuesday, February 10, 2004

I had been out-of-focus and always in deep thoughts, I feel relieved later this afternoon when I had looked closely with Annex B document. And, guess what? I believed the original receipt which I acknowledged had been falsified/forged.

To get second opinion, I shared my thoughts with my bestfriend and, she, too, remembered clearly the words written in the receipt. Feeling uncomfortable, I searched my boxes where I kept all my files. Yes, they were in boxes because we're set to move out supposedly in September last year.

And, thanks, God! I found the big notebook where the buyer had written the original copy of Annex B. The page was intact and pen's strokes were visible. And, my intuition led me to the discovery that the copy of Annex B submitted along with the affidavit of Adverse Claim was no longer the original copy we signed earlier. The broker falsified it by adding some words!

I called the closest Police Station and made some inquiries about testing evidences in Camp Crame Crime Lab. He said, the evidence I have with me is called "Questioned Document."

Plan Upgraded Again

Monday, February 09, 2004

Bandwith's usage reached 80% today and I upgraded again this evening web hosting plan. Advanced payment for a year might be consumed within 3 months if every two weeks, plan must be upgraded due to higher bandwith needs...

Oh! Mama... you never told me there will be days like this!

Speaking of my mother, she's with us for three days now. I asked her to stay with us and heal me. I had severe headache which only my mother's touch could take it off. Since she survived a coma in February 1994 while I was in Brazil for the Carnival (don't get me wrong, I cut short my trip and went back to the country immediately), she was then gifted with a healing touch...

Believe it or not, it runs in her family...

Annex B

This afternoon, I sent my daughter to get copy of document referred as Annex B submitted with Registry of Deeds (RD) along with the broker's Affidavit of Adverse Claim. Someone who accomodated my daughter's inquiry was playing games with her saying there was no such paper marked as Annex B submitted there. Until someone with higher authority noticed them arguing with each other and ordered "NR" to release whatever copy my Sweetie was asking.

Although I got the copy, it was not clear, guess, I should go there, get a new clear copy and meet those people at RD when I am feeling a little bit better...

Local Spammer

Sunday, February 08, 2004

Another unwelcome spammer, this time from the Philippines, finds its way again here on this site and flooded comments with VCD titles and took advantage of my web presence. The culprit was Hanz, hansenverga@yahoo.com.sg with IP address 203.177.10.6 and cellphone no. 0919-5735783.

I just wonder why they do not create a site or blog for their products, instead of sending their links through my site's comments?

Template Modules Added

For barely 6 weeks of using Movable Type, only this time I fully noticed Template Modules. I created and added Header, Sidebar, and Footer Template Modules AND deleted long html tags off Category Archive, Date-based and Individual Archive Templates. I was hesitant at first that it might not work but, glad I tried.

Template Modules

Movable Type allows you to extract common chunks of HTML code into templates that you can then include in your other templates; in Movable Type, these common templates are called Template Modules. An example of the use for such a template might be a header that you use throughout your site. You can create a new template module called Header, paste in the common header code, then save the new template. You can then include this code in all of your other templates using the MTInclude tag:

< $MTInclude module="Header"$ >

This tag will be replaced by the contents of the Header custom template.

This allows you to keep all common code in one place, so that if you need to modify it, you only need to modify it in one place.

Source: Movable Type User Manual: TEMPLATES

When I need to edit my sidebar to add some new links, all I have to do is open my sidebar template module and changes will be reflected in all archive templates when rebuild!

Editing my archive templates are now easier since it has less html tags :-)

Selective Focus

Saturday, February 07, 2004

This message was originally posted with famous_quotes @ Yahoo Groups by Chezon and I find it interesting...

"We attract experiences that match our beliefs or we interpret experiences based on our beliefs. This is called selective focus. If we believe that we have to struggle to get what we want, we will attract countless ways to struggle. If we believe we don't deserve a happy relationship, we will choose and create a relationship in which we will be unhappy. If we believe all men are users, we will attract men who are users." --from the book, "What Mama Couldn't Tell Us About Love: Healing the Emotional Legacy of Slavery, Celebrating Our Light" by Brenda Lane Richardson and Dr. Brenda Wade

Do you think the past things that had happened in our lives had something to do with the way we look at life? And, how about the "world" we created based on our beliefs?

Wish I Could Run For President... Part XII

2004 Election

Election Season Starts On February 10
Meet the 2004 Final List of Philippine Presidential Candidates

Bro. Eddie Villanueva

Riding on a platform of "righteous government," Brother Eduardo Villanueva of the Jesus is Lord (JIL) Christian group intends to answer his "call of duty as a patriotic Filipino" by running for the presidency. The movement, which espouses the setting up of a righteous leadership in government, believes that in order to have national renewal and lift the country out of the mire, the principles of justice, truth and righteousness must be instituted in Philippine society. Source: DyaryoBoy.com

Eddie Gil

A presidential candidate who promised to give every Filipino P1 million, claims to have $20 billion in assets but is scoring less than one percent in opinion polls ahead of the May 10 vote. Presidential hopeful Eddie Gil risks being downgraded to presidential hopeless, after refusing to pay a hotel bill for his campaign staff five days ago. Read more: Newsflash.org.

Fernando Poe Jr.

Also populary known as FPJ, he is Ronald Allan Kelly Poe in real life, son of actor-producer Fernando Poe Sr. who modeled for the well-known University of the Philippines' Oblation statue. He was born on Aug. 20, 1939, the second of six children. Uncertain at the moment are his visions for the country, FPJ remains the person to beat in the upcoming elections (according to several surveys) due to his popularity. (Source: DyaryoBoy.com) Despite his avowed disinterest in politics, a signature campaign designed to convince him to run has been launched. It is called FPJ for President Movement, his initials standing for Freedom, Peace and Justice. The prospect of being defeated by FPJ must have sent a thousand Mayon volcanoes erupting in Macapagal-Arroyo's mind, accompanied by whatever expletives her katarayan (razor-tongue) regularly spouts. Source: Bulatlat.com

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

The current president of the Philippine Republic, she was instituted during EDSA 2 which involved the ousting of now former President Joseph Estrada. GMA as she is also popularly known started her presidency with the aim of a Strong Republic and poverty alleviation. Source: DyaryoBoy.com

Panfilo 'Ping' M. Lacson

He is the former PNP and PAOCTF chief and currently a senator. Senator Lacson's cardinal principle is very inspiring: What is right, must be kept right. What is wrong, must be set right. This is a leader principle that made him a recipient in 1982 of PC Metrodiscom Officer of the Year, 2 Outstand-ing Achievement Medals, 5 Bronze Cross Medals, 17 Military Merit Medals, 3 Medalya ng Kadakilaan, and 3 Medalya ng Kagalingan Awards. In 1988 he received the Ten Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines (TOPP) and PMA Alumni Achievement Award, among others. Source: Profile of Ping Lacson

Raul S. Roco

Aside from being widely known for his floral shirts, Raul Roco is the former Education Secretary and a former senator. He is the president of the Aksyon Demokratiko Party and the presidential standard bearer for the Alliance of Hope. Roco spearheads his campaign with the placing importance on education. He constantly reminds of the greatness of the Filipino and the history and achievements each Filipino can be proud of. He topped several surveys for a long period of time and is strongly backed by the youth and women's groups. Despite the survey results, Roco still needs to make himself more appealing to the lower classes, where, needless to say, a huge chunk of the votes come from. Source: Dyaryoboy.com

As usual, here are the top local news that has something to do with the 2004 Philippine Election:

Although I haven't known anyone among my family, friends, nor enermies, who wants to retain PGMA as the President of the Philippines, I am one of those people who believe in voting anyone of the above presidentiables EXCEPT the lone Lady Presidentiable! I am just so curious to see changes in the current administration.

Final Barangay Meeting

Friday, February 06, 2004

At exactly 9:00 o'clock in the morning, I arrived on time at Lupong Tagapamayapa Office and have waited for about 45 minutes until I was called.

As expected, the broker/buyer did not showed up in the Third and Final Hearing of the complaint I filed against her. She knew she does not have any argument to present.

A Certificate To File Action was given to me, signed by Lupon Tagapamayapa Member, Mr. Lito Orofino; Pangkat Chairman, Mr. Fernando Vizconde; and, Pangkat Secretary, Atty. Ricardo Bundulian.

Atty. Bundulian, who has an office just opposite my bank, Allied Banking Corporation, told me that my case is strong but, the broker is the only one who can reverse the adverse claim she filed at Registry of Deeds Office in Parañaque City.

The broker/buyer underestimated us knowing we do not have financial means to pursue this case in court but, I do believe God will not let this evil deeds succeed...

A Conversation in Heaven

Thursday, February 05, 2004

I have read this joke in the Word Alive article written by Fr. Ben R. San Luis, SVD, February 4, 2004 Issue of Manila Bulletin's Views/Comments/Features Page (please remember that this is only a joke and do not take me personally on this):

The huge wall separating heaven and hell broke down due to the vandalism caused by mischievous devils. St. Peter called out Lucifer, the head of hell's 'angels', saying, "Hey, since all the engineers are on your side, how about ordering them to fix this broken wall?"

"Sorry," Lucifer replied. "My men are too busy to about fixing a measly fence."

"Well then," an irate Peter said, "I'll bring you to court for the damage done."

"Oh, yeah?" Satan answered. "And where are you going to get your lawyers?"

:-)

Well, uhmmm.... speaking of lawyers, I hope there are still good ones left to help me with my property dispute.

Who Do You Know?

Wednesday, February 04, 2004

I registered with Orkut today upon Paul Hughes invitation. Orkut is an online community that connects people through a network of trusted friends, similar to Friendster and Ryze Business Networking.

Somehow, is it really important who do you know? I do believe in quality over quantity and this, too, I believe applies with friends.

Let me know if you wish to be invited and join Orkut...

Another Notice of Hearing

I received this morning another Notice of Hearing to be held on Friday, 6th of February, 2004 at 9:00 o'clock in the morning, in regards with my complaint against the broker/buyer who made an adverse claim on my property.

Fear and Love

Another Motivational Letter From Tito

Dear Laila,

There is something about good passages and thoughts that makes me think of you. Perhaps it is my one impression of who you are, a friend back home that I have to meet in person yet I seem to know by her kindness and profoundness.

I am reading a book written by the Dan Baker, director of the Life Enhancement Program at Canyon Ranch. The book's title is "What Happy People know."

I have heard of Canyon Ranch but will not even dream of ever being there. As it is beyond my dreams, happiness is within each and everyone if we let it be.

Take care and enjoy every moment of life.

Tito

In the ultimate analysis, human beings have only two essential primal feelings:

FEAR and LOVE

Fear impels us to survive, and love enables us to thrive. This complementary pair of feelings has been the driving force of human history.

Appreciation is the highest, purest form of love. It is the type of love that can blossom even when it is not returned. It is the outward-bound self-renewing form of love that has no dependence upon romantic attachment or family ties. People who truly appreciate feel the same about the object of their appreciation whether it is present or absent. They appreciate it even if it is, by objective standards, not worthy of their appreciation.

Appreciation asks for nothing and gives everything.

When you enter into the active condition of appreciation - whether over something as common as a sunset or as a profound as the love in your child's eyes - your normal world stops and a state of grace begins. Time can stand still, or rush like a waterfall. Your senses can be heightened or obliterated. Creativity flows, heart rate slows, brain waves soften into rolling ripples, and an exquisite calm descends over your entire being. During active appreciation, your brain, heart, and endocrine system work in synchrony and heal in harmony.

Another Emptiness

Monday, February 02, 2004

Worried that I might not be able to send my children to college next school year (by June) made me more depressed lately.

We wanted to sell the house real soon YET someone with a greedy heart claimed possession of our title and it is unclear what will gonna happen on Friday's meeting whether I should pursue the case or not.

Due to uncertainty, my eldest son applied for a job in a Saudi Arabian company today and fortunately he was accepted as computer technician. My promise to give him some capital to start a small computer shop business glooms with our current situation. I was angry with our situation and couldn't believe my eldest son will soon be away from me for two years in exchange for employment abroad.

I will surely miss my son... and the thought that I would not see him around here breaks my heart. If only I succeeded in selling our property last year, maybe, I have settled ourselves by now. :-(

Feast of Sacrifice and Sharing

Today is Feast of Sacrifice and Sharing or Eid Al Adha in the Muslim world. It is the most important feast of the Muslim calendar as it concludes the Pilgrimage to Mecca known as the Hajj.

May this event brings peace in Mindanao in their observance of Eid Al Adha...

Templates are all OK now

For a week now since I have added my BlogShares details in all my templates by using David Raynes' latest MTBlogShares v0.6 movable type plugin, I had difficulty rebuilding new pages and templates.

Abe upgraded MT to version 2.661, yet, it didn't helped me resolve rebuilding my pages problem. I submitted couple of messages with MT support forums but only one replied to my query but did not mention any alternative solution that might give me an idea what's going on.

Although I didn't like to remove my BlogShares tags from my templates, I have to do so, so that I can post new entries in my blog. But, since I am addicted to BS now, I did not remove the BS tags off my index page. If you are planning to add BS in your template, never ever add the link in your Individual Entry Archive or you will suffer the same experience of no rebuild page.

Index template still takes time to rebuild but, what can I do? I love to keep my BS details in my blog. And, in fairness with David, I know connection to BlogShares to get my details was the major reason for slow rebuilding of my page and templates. But, I hope David will soon find a way to make it possible to add BS tags in all my templates without having difficulty rebuilding my pages!

Guess I need to install MT Plugin Manager to manage well future plugin files to make blogging more enjoyable and fun... more power to all people behind MT!
