Time Off

Wednesday, January 26, 2005

Maybe I was spending too much time on the net this is why my children had serious sentiments that were not given attention to. Thanks to BlogShares transaction fees, I can have my time off the net and dedicate more time on household matters.

Due to last night's fist fight, we have cold war here that may last for a week or so...

Fist Fight

Tuesday, January 25, 2005

We had a fine dinner this evening. My kids liked the tenderloin tips I cooked. When Paul Denise was done with his meal, he watched TV while talking with someone on the phone. Both Pearl and I were busy discussing something when my son scolded us to lower our voices which surprised us.

Then I stood up and instructed my daughter to clean up the table when she's done. I went to my room to pray the Angelus but I couldn't hear my prayers. The kids were noisy and yelling at each other. Right after I went out of my room, they were fighting with each other. I tried to break them apart but both didn't stopped attacking each other until I got a chance and pushed Denise inside my room and hurriedly locked the door. He was so furious. I saw his nose was bleeding.

After an hour of insults and accussations of being unfair to them, Paul Denise would like to go out to the living room and watch TV. I let him promised me that he will behave and will not attack his sister anymore. Couple of hours, he got bored and went inside my room again and fall asleep.

It's my chance to talk with my daughter. I saw her holding a small piece of ice on her face, she got a blackeye. I didn't say a word until she's ready to go to bed. I demanded that she must ignore her big brother in the morning and pretend he's not there especially when he tease her and challenge her for another fist fight. For the first time, I kept all knives hidden somewhere in the kitchen.

The source of Paul Denise's anger was not really because of our noisy conversation but, because he's jealous and someone pushed him to believe that my daughter and I were maltreating him. Now that they are both sleeping, I couldn't help but ask myself, where did I go wrong? They never listen to me anymore... :-(

Backdoor.Nemog.C Update

Monday, January 24, 2005

We finally caught who was installing/running the Backdoor.Nemog.C in my PC. As we connected things together, in spite of diligent efforts to remove the virus, I always discovered my PC was infected over and over again when it's booted.

The suspect? Paul Denise and my nephew! They intentionally inserted the virus so that they can use it in a server where they both play their games.

The punishment? He's no longer allowed to play his games in my PC!

Ukay-Ukay

Sunday, January 23, 2005

Ate Neth and I seldom talk nor meet each other for the past weeks. She's always busy with her work and calendar business. Sad to say, even her clients didn't pay her until now, she has to continue with what she has started to pay the money she borrowed. Anyway, glad she finally asked me this morning if I want to go with her to buy something in Ukay-ukay, a store for second-hand or used items, like clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and even underwear!

It's in my schedule to return the CD player daughter bought a week ago because the adaptor I bought last night had no power. I picked her up in her house and to my dismay, we didn't find the place along Quezon Avenue which she's bragging me about.

As expected, we went at SM Appliance Center. They were very accommodating and friendly when I explained to them my daughter's problem. Since the unit was under warranty for 6 months, we got a new adaptor. I also returned the other adaptor in SM Audio-Video outlet and replaced the item with charger adaptor and 2 Blast prepaid internet cards.

My sister was looking for white pants at SM Department Store but, I ended up buying my own while she didn't get what she's looking for. Trying on different pants made me hungry so we had palabok with chicken in Jollibee. Most of the time, we talked about losing weight and about the ABS slimming tea she's advising me to try.

On our way to drop her home, we passed Quezon Avenue again hoping to find the store she told me about. We finally found the place but, according to her, not too many stores were open just like last month. Instead of white pants, she got a cheap blanket and sandals for a total of PHP 145.00 only.

Paolo B

Saturday, January 22, 2005

Tintin arrived this afternoon to accompany me and Mama for grocery shopping. While shopping, Sweety Pearl text to us her requested stuffs, including adaptor for her CD player. When we're done and about to pay at the counter, two of my cards were declined by their swipe machine. I was embarassed because I was able to use it when I bought circular lamp at SM Workshop an hour ago. Glad Tintin was around and I sent her to get some money from a nearby ATM machine since I had about 5k cash only. When she came back, we settled the bill and left hurriedly. It's about 7 in the evening and she has to go back to Parañaque soon.

As we reached the gate of the building and unload all the stuffs we bought, I was surprised to see Paolo Bediones, a GMA 7 TV personality and host of Extra Challenge (Pinoy Reality-Game Show). I uttered in a loud voice, "Paolo?" He nodded and shoke hands with me. And the rest that I said was, "I didn't know you were handsome in person." He smiled and went out of the building. Paolo was taller than me and has dark skin.

I found out later from the maintenance of the building that the controversial Katherine Luna, who was interviewed today in StarTalk for being 5 months pregnant and rumored that Paolo might be the father of her baby, lives in the same building where we live, as well as Aleya Kintanar.

Anyway, I realized EX is more handsome than Paolo B and thoughts about it made me smile....

Neopets

Friday, January 21, 2005

Bored with the current situation on BlogShares' transaction fees, I registered with Neopets® upon Randy's recommendation. He told me about this game last year but since we're actively trading and having fun on BlogShares, it didn't interest me at all.

Neopets® is the greatest Virtual Pet Site on the Internet. It has many things to offer including over 160 games, trading, auctions, greetings, messaging, and much much more. Best of all, it's completely FREE!

Why this sudden switch? I need something to make my mind busy than staying at home idle.

Backdoor.Nemog.C

My PC was infected with Backdoor.Nemog.C... every morning when I logged in, this virus kept coming back over and over again.

How I wish my Junjun is here to fix all my PC troubles :-(

LG Service Center

Guess what? I received Yahoo! message from a fellow Filipino asking me the contact details of LG Service Center. It's about time someone will do the initiative to provide us Philippine Telephone Directory that has listings of all subscribers of PLDT, BayanTel, and Globe nationwide. Sometimes, when a company is currently a Globe subscriber and I called PLDT 187 for assistance, they won't be able to provide me any telephone numbers for that company (and vice versa).

Internet might give us some aid, but, who will do it for free?

So Help Us God

Thursday, January 20, 2005

BBC NEWS: Global poll slams Bush leadership

Only three countries - India, Poland and the Philippines - out of 21 polled believed the world was now safer.

If the Philippines is a rich nation, the global poll result in the Philippines might had been different and would reveal the true feelings of the Filipino people. Whether Bush speech on his inauguration ceremony this Thursday is brief or long, I doubted whether Asia is safe from him. So help us God.

SWS: Fewer Filipinos are hungry

Wednesday, January 19, 2005

Inquirer.net Newsletter Headline: Fewer Filipinos are hungry, survey shows. SWS says drop due to poor's belt tightening...

I'm puzzled... I do hope starving Pinoys are still alive??? This survey sounds suspicious. Was it because of a government loan or because of last month's Holiday season?

Visiting Papa

Tuesday, January 18, 2005

Pacette arrived early morning and after an hour of waiting for me to get ready, we disassembled the stereo component and brought the Sansui amplifier to Fil-Audio Service Center in V.V. Soliven Bldg, San Juan. Danny gave me the receipt for my unit and he will let me know what's the problem within this week.

I was supposed to visit Vera in Parañaque City to get something from her but she was with her client looking for property to buy. We're almost on our way back home when I had thought to drop by at SM North Edsa. We bought some stuffs for Papa before visiting him. I have heard from Mama last Sunday that he was unable to visit my older sister who was just close to his area for a month now and that worries me a lot.

My heart melts upong seeing Papa, he walks so slowly and limping. He said rheumatism gave him sleepless nights and he has difficulty going places due to severe knee pains. We had McChicken sandwich and chinese soup for breakfast. We then fixed some of Papa's stuffs which I bought before we leave.

Papa walked with us to get a taxi in Roosevelt Avenue and I suggested I want him to check something which I saw three days ago. We went to a furniture store hoping to get a replacement to his old rocking chair but, the quality was not so good so I promised Papa I will try to find a better one for him.

As I arrived home, I feel a little bit better but, still half-guilty for not visiting my father so often...

Sansui Service Center

Saturday, January 15, 2005

Two months ago, I was thinking of buying SONY DHC-FLX5DSW Home Theater system because our Sansui amplifier needs repair. These 8 pcs original Sansui stereo components were given to me as a gift in 1987. For many years, it was part of our daily lives, parties, and holidays. It was unfortunate it's about time it needs to be repaired but my problem, I had lost its manual upon our relocation, including the service center contact details. I checked online its website or any details that will help me contact anyone but there was nothing.

When mother and I accompanied my daughter to buy a PROLINE CD/MP3 player today, I found out Sansui has the same service center with Pioneer Electronics.

Free iPod 40GB

Friday, January 14, 2005

Have you ever encounter this advertisement line while surfing: "Don't Miss Out on a Free iPod. Sign Up for Your iPod Today."???

What's the deal? All you have to do is follow their participation requirements and terms and conditions which involves signing up for certain sponsor offers and completing a marketing offer survey. How do I know about this? Michael contacted me this morning by e-mail and asked permission whether he can send me money thru XOOM. Surprisingly, I asked couple of questions until I found out he has to complete the signup procedure at Incentive Reward Center. Whether this is legitimate or not, only those who have registered know the answer.

After we exchanged words, I realized he found me through Google Search and he's a fellow player on Blogshares. Trust established, he completed the XOOM transaction and I bought 1 share of Jesus Tribe for B$ 1Trillion...

Excerpts from Jesus Tribe's Jumping thru hoops for iPod:

THis is going to be harder than I thought. THe UK money has to be sent thru a Barclays bank account. THat leaves me with the Philippines. Now I just have to find someone in the UK with a Barclays bank account or a blogger in the Philippines that can pick up some money at an Equitable PCI Bank. This is becoming quite an adventure in websurfing. Looking for the right person. Maybe it will be just the right person that needed the money. I bet thats how it turns out.

Broken Bottle

Wednesday, January 12, 2005

Mama and I rushed to SM supermarket to buy ingredients for fruit salad. While in queue to change some money at SM Forex counter, we walked around the Beauty and Cosmetics section. Next thing I know, L'ORÉAL promo girl made a mascara demo on my eyelashes! When I was about to take the item, I saw a woman with a shining pale lips. When I asked her what brand of lisptick she's using, it's Max Factor. In short, I paid over US$100 worth of L'ORÉAL and Max Factor beauty enhancers which were duplication of what I already had.

Anyway, I made Mama tired walking around so, I left her in Starbucks while in the supermarket. I was in a hurry picking items from the shelves when suddenly, a bottle of Nata de Coco slipped and fell to the floor. The lady guard asked me to pay it immediately in the nearest liquor cashier but I just gave her a smile that I will pay all what I was buying later. They had thought I will argue or complain for charging me the item, I just shrugged my shoulders and went to buy fresh chicken and the rest of the stuffs. I knew eyes were following me wherever I go but, I won't run from my responsibility.

Thanks to the mascara power, I feel beautiful and didn't like to get mad and be ugly because of a broken bottle.

By the way, I got myself 5 new Krizia blouses to compliment with my new beauty enhancer chemicals... :-)

Killer Tsunami

Killer Tsunami 2004
Will the same fate happen to us in the Philippines?

On my father's birthday last September 26, 2004, he warned all of us to stock some bottled water and canned goods just in case a strong earthquake will hit the country before the end of December 2004. After 12 days, we had a 6.5 magnitude earthquake which I mentioned in my October 8, 2004 article.

When tsunami hits 12 countries, I couldn't blog anything about it. I was scared similar incident will happen in the Philippines soon based on my father's warning to us. Everyday, I was praying for those people who recently died, maybe some of them didn't know yet they were dead. May those survivors who had lost their properties and loved ones will get help and recover soon. Rebuilding takes time yet, life goes on although I doubted whether it will be the same again. It is somehow unfortunate that others took advantage of the situation instead of extending help themselves to victims of tsunami:

The FBI alerted the public to a variety of online scams asking users to send money for the victims of the recent tsunami disaster.

Please visit Tsunami Missing Persons HQ at http://www.sneaknews.com/, a site created by a fellow Filipino, Benjamin Agravante Jr., a 25-year-old native of Legazpi City, Albay vacationing in Amsterdam.

Meanwhile, the lives of those families in Real, Quezon province, who were badly hit by strong typhoons are not back to normal yet. There's so many things to be done. Majority of houses and school buildings were almost destroyed and/ or buried in soil when logs carried by flash floods hit houses and livestocks. Graduating students were helpless but, they all wishing to go back to school soon so that they can graduate this year.

What's Your IQ?

When I refreshed Mozilla browser after trading on BlogShares, I have noticed the random sponsored ad IQ Question: Which state is surrounded by the most water?, I clicked HI (for Hawaii) to answer it but another page opened up. I was intrigued to answer those questions one after the other until it led me to the next page. I didn't know how many pages in all but, I have to register my e-mail and provide a password to get the result of The Classic IQ Test.

I'm not sure what's the perfect score but, I also asked my daughter to try it and she got 122, Visual Mathematician!

Blade Trinity

Saturday, January 08, 2005

Tintin sent SMS message this morning and asked when was Nanay's birthday. When I called her and asked why, she giggled and told me she wants to watch a movie with her. I told her then to come over and I will save some cake for her.

When she arrived, she found out we're not ready yet and there was no birthday cake. We held Mama's birthday last week, January 2nd. Mama, Sweety Pearl and Tintin were pushing me to shut down PC and get ready. Unfortunately, Paul Denise was sleeping soundly so we decided to leave him instead. It took us about 4 hours to get ready and we left the house probably past four in the afternoon.

We went to SM North Edsa and by then I announced I'd like to watch Blade Trinity instead of Mano Po. Sweety Pearl was surprised because we had an earlier agreement to support all Tagalog movies in honor of the late Fernando Poe Jr. But, I told her I want to know what the movie is all about and since I was in charge of the expenses, they got no choice except to follow me to SM Cinema 9.

Blade Trinity is an action/adventure/horror rated-R movie starring Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Biel, Parker Posey and directed by David S. Goyer. I was surprised I was not moved nor even thrilled by this movie unlike its predecessor, or maybe because I know there is no vampires and/ or I didn't liked my mother or daughter laughed at me once again after the movie, Sigaw. This trilogy lacks story plot, rushed story to its climax and it's unclear to me why human vampires were not eliminated by biological weapon, too.

After watching the movie, we headed to the supermarket and did some grocery shopping. My mother enjoyed the movie and the shopping but no one would like to eat outside. They were all on diet, except me....

Happy Birthday, Nanay!

Mama (or Nanay as her grandchildren called her) is 68 years old today. Since Mama would like to treat VJ to a movie, we watched this afternoon Mars Ravelo's Lastikman - Unang Banat, another official entry to Metro Manila Film Festival 2004, starring ADRIAN ROSALES / LASTIKMAN (Mark Bautista), LARA MANUEL (Sarah Geronimo), ALFONSO (John Estrada), REDEN ( Danilo Barrios), and LASTIKA/EDITA (Ms. Cherrie Gil). VJ is my nephew who is the only child of my brother, Nasser, to his wife, Jane. It was first time for VJ to enter a movie house and both my nephew and my mother enjoyed the movie, talking and discussing while watching. Glad Paul Denise was with us to scold the two for being too noisy.

After the movie, we bought a Goldilocks round chocolate cake for Mama and we had our dinner at home, since Sweety Pearl didn't join us due to an illness.

To my dearest mother, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

New Year's Resolutions 2005

Saturday, January 01, 2005

Since I sold the house, send the kids back to college and relocated in 2004, here are the top priorities I'm looking forward in 2005:

  1. Everything which is better for the kids, God will help us.
  2. Fall in love with the right man, right place, right time!
  3. Get a job. Be productive. Be busy in the real world away from online stuffs.
  4. Save money. Invest. Buy property.
  5. Lose weight, get back my 27" waistline, and keep it for good.
  6. Be wiser. Prettier. Happier.

Make your own New Year's Resolution 2005, too, and add your URL to Technorati.
