Goodbye, Alexandra

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

My 9 yr old niece, Alexandra, the only daughter of my brother Bhoie, passed away this afternoon at FEU Hospital due to Stage III Dengue. She was admitted yesterday afternoon and placed in ICU. Alex was born on February 21st 1997.

I can hardly believe she's gone now. May she forgive me for not visiting her yesterday in the hospital and for not being able to talk to her before she died. Too bad they failed to save Alex! The hospital bill cost my brother over 100k.

A candle for Alex

I urged the pious readers of this blog to please pray for the soul of my niece, Alex... Wherever you are, Alex, I hope your soul rest in peace.

Case III: Pre-Trial Rescheduled

At RTC, I paid Php 500.00 this morning for the transcript of the stenographic notes taken down by the Court Stenographer during the hearing for Case I, held in the morning of July 27th, when they put me in the witness stand.

I had a scheduled Pre-Trial Hearing for Case III - Annulment of Marriage this morning at 10:30 am but, unfortunately, the presiding Judge is in the USA for an official conference since September 23rd.

This is the second time that this particular hearing had been rescheduled. The first one was because of Gloria Arroyo's SONA. What made me furious was, I paid for my lawyer's appearance fee and all she did was signed the rescheduled hearing for October 23rd.

There will be two hearing for next month: one is set on the 18th for Case II and on the 23rd for Case III.

The delay to hear the case made me so upset...

Static IP Address

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

Our Sky DSL Plan 2699 had been adjusted to Business NetBasic at 11:02 am this morning. After 30 minutes, they called us and gave us the assigned IP address.

I called their hotline 4112000 for the DNS server IP address. I asked for the remaining three IP address bundled with our plan but they said, I only asked for plan upgrade and that I have to submit a written request for it.

We didn't go to their office this afternoon because we observed first how stable our internet connection. Although the subscribed bandwidth is up to 1024 kbps only, I would rather have an average broadband speed yet stable rather than enjoy a 2 mbps one but our DSL connection dropped every minute.

Yeah, right. We don't have yet world class quality broadband internet service in this country. This is what am beginning to understand...

Surprised

Monday, September 11, 2006

Wow! Ten days I didn't publish any blog entry?

Well, maybe I was so selfish not to blog the latest news about me lately but, rest assured that I am well and very, very happy. Many thanks to the man who made me really a special one, Randy!

Guess what? This afternoon, Randy surprised me again with two dozen bouquet of Roses, chocolates, perfumed candle, and Passion room freshener from Islandrose.net! He's sweet indeed and I love his style of surprising me...

From Randy

When he logged out to sleep, I went to Bayantel with Tintin and upgraded Sky DSL Plan 2699 to NetBasic 1024 kbps Business package, with 4 free static IP address. It will cost me Php 3,300.00 (US$64.00) a month, inclusive of taxes! Since I switched to Bayantel last month, we always experienced intermittent connection, especially this week that our modem kept dropping my connection and resets all the time. It's kind of annoying though but it's more convenient to deal with Bayantel tech support because they can reset my DSL connection instantly unlike PLDT staffs who kept promising me a technician had been dispatched yet no one is coming to visit us to check what's wrong with our DSL connection.

We didn't stayed that long in Bayantel Customer Service. We then did some grocery shopping at SM Supermarket and I got shocked with what I paid for 21 bags of groceries. The cashier, Judy Pelanog, told me that they made some price adjustments again this month. With what I heard, I remembered that Randy mentioned to me that prices of goods went up as well in their local grocery stores.

Budgetting lately had not been easy. Everything is going up and the Filipinos' quality of life had been quite difficult nowadays.

Bowling with kids

Sunday, September 03, 2006

Mama, the kids and I attended the 5:00 o'clock mass. Fr. Rev. Bob Sabanal said the mass this afternoon.

Dinner with kids

After the mass, we went bowling with some of my kids friends and we had dinner at KFC. Ate Neth and her son, Jessie, later joined us. We all had a great time....

Mount Soledad Cross

Friday, September 01, 2006

Randy often told me about this Atheist, Philip Paulson, 59, who sued the city of San Diego 17 years ago to force the removal of the Mount Soledad cross from public property. He even blogged about it on the 2nd of August that the Senate voted unanimously to make it a federal landmark. Randy also told me when the US President signed it but, I can hardly remember when it took place.

Anyway, the controversial guy was in the news again and has been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Randy gave me this link, Opponent of cross has terminal cancer.

I was wondering whether it's right to pray to God to help this man from his cancer... Paulson himself fully expects someone to say it's God's revenge based on the above link.

Well... I often told Randy I will also blog about that guy but didn't really find reason to do so except this time. Paulson's cancer is an eye-opener there. What's the use of suing the City of San Diego to remove the Mount Soledad Cross if he doesn't have enough remaining years to do it?
