butterfly PlogHost Webhosting

Friday, January 05, 2007

Randy sent payment to PlogHost XOOM account, for ladylaila.net's Custom Plan 1G webhosting package (PlogHost Invoice #4185) from 01/13/2007 thru 01/13/2008, in the amount of US$ 186.00 (US$11.00 service fee included). That's US$ 175.00, a total of Php 8,400.00: Php 7,500 for one year site webhosting plus Php 900.00 (12% TAX)!

Three years ago, I just started with Plan 75 but in less than a month, my site had been inaccessible due to bandwidth overload. Next thing I did, I upgraded my plan to the next level but, the site suffered the same inconveniences until I ended up with a Custom Plan 1G to meet bandwidth and server load needs.

Less than two months ago, I paid the amount of Php 2,016.00 (PlogHost Invoice #4022) on Nov. 20, 2006, for ladylaila.net's Domain Renewal Fee for 3 years, covering the period 12/13/2006 thru 12/12/2009.

Meanwhile, the internet is so bad today that I couldn't watch Judge Judy, two episodes of NCIS, and Shark via Skype due to intermittent internet connection caused by Taiwan earthquake.

However, the slow connection didn't stopped us from voice chatting on Skype and we even played some of our favorite online games together. I gained some picture pieces from the World Challenge and converted 4 picture gallery which I collected from Moon Rock Rampage, Toybox Escape, Typing Terror, and Web of Vernax. The latter game didn't award me any picture pieces even if I won a picture piece. According to The Neopets Team (TNT) custom message: "It looks you have collected all the pieces for the picture(s) in the world that this game is set in or have not converted the completed picture yet, so no piece has been awarded." So, I had thought to convert all the 4 picture gallery, that's a total of 80 picture pieces and each one could be sold in my neoshop for 25,000 NP each, that's approximately about 2 Million Neopoints. Upon converting the pictures, I got 8,000 NP plus Striped Paint Brush, Brown Paint Brush, Usuki Paint Brush, and Mutant Petpet Paint Brush, which would give me a total of less than a million NP if I want to auction them.

Anyway, in spite of our enjoyment playing online games, I was wondering how much ladylaila.net webhosting package (and domain fee, too) would cost us in the next five years... many thanks to Randy for his continuous support to this blog, otherwise, I probably shut this down and/or move this blog to a public server.

butterfly Timed Out

Monday, March 13, 2006

Please accept my apology for the inconvenience brought about by the inaccessibility of this site lately.

Ploghost, my webhosting provider, had one client on their server that used an insecure Wordpress plugin that causes the server to trash and freeze. They took some time to identify it and remove from the system. A Support Ticket #2779 has been closed and reopened couple of times because they were unable to fix the problem immediately.

Hopefully, this blog is fully accessible now and back online for your reading pleasure.

butterfly PlogHost Plan Upgrade

Thursday, January 05, 2006

Since last two months, my blog failed to display pages correctly and I cannot upload images anymore. I kept rebuilding the entire MT templates to display full index page almost everyday. Whenever someone posted a comment, index page was missing again.

I had thought it's about time to upgrade to paid version of MT until Abe Olandres informed me the possible reason: "Once you run out of web space, your sites will lock up. This is the reason why MT is cranking up on you."

Domain Hosting for Ladylaila.net is now Php9174.00 a year for Plan RH 1GB Special.

butterfly MT Activity Log Overload

Monday, December 26, 2005

My youngest sister often told me that something was wrong with my blog: The page was either empty or didn't load properly its page.

One possible reason is either MT activity log overloads or MT is corrupted due to transfer of files from one server to another? Anyway, many thanks to Scripty Goddess. I was able to reset activity log by just clicking this link: http://www.ladylaila.net/mt.cgi?__mode=reset_log.

The Movable Type activity log contains a record of notable actions in the system and I'm glad I can view system log once again.

butterfly Expired Domain

Thursday, May 19, 2005

Please accept my apology if this site was inaccessible for over 24 hours due technical issues with my webhosting provider, PlogHost.

butterfly 20 GB Bandwidth

Wednesday, March 23, 2005

Many thanks to Abe for upgrading ladylaila.net to 20 GB bandwidth today from 10 GB (Plan 500) current size.

For three consecutive days, I had been receiving 'The domain ladylaila.net is about to exceed bandwidth limit' notice. To avoid further inconvenience, I reminded him through Yahoo! IM about his promise last Christmas that he would double my domain's bandwidth for free.

Voila! This site can accomodate more traffic now without worrying of inconvenience of inaccessibility...

butterfly Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

Wednesday, October 27, 2004

Today, I upgraded my plan with PlogHost, my webhosting server, due to inconvenience brought about when my site was inaccessible for couple of hours due to exceeded bandwidth limit. The damage? Additional of Php150.00 a month will be added to my bills...

Guess it's about time to look for site sponsor...

butterfly Bandwidth Limit

Wednesday, September 29, 2004

Ploghost's bot sent this last week: "The domain ladylaila.net has reached 80% of its bandwidth limit. Please contact the system admin as soon as possible." Just last month, I have upgraded my webhosting plan because in the past three consecutive months, my site was inaccessible when it exceeded its bandwidth limit.

Here is ladylaila.net's monthly visits history for this year:

ladylaila.net monthly history

I'd thought only 5 people are visiting my blog everyday... and, it's been a long time I neglected visiting my site's control panel.

butterfly New Blog

Sunday, July 11, 2004

Since BlogShares' Ideas Market does not generate new ideas this morning, I had an opportunity to create a new blog, entitled MORE THAN QUOTES. It's been a long time I wanted to blog Fresh News Quotes yet, I couldn't think of a good theme and layout to start with.

At blogdrive.com, I found one haven of resources where everything is just a mouse-click effort. I still have to do some re-editing but, for the meantime, I am happy with the way I started it.

butterfly Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional

Tuesday, July 06, 2004

After three days of tedious cleaning of html codes, this blog is finally a valid XHTML 1.0 transitional based on W3C markup validation service.

Skinning this site is my next option and I wish it will be easier for me to do it. I still do not know how to use PHP in creating website but Arvind gave me some links which can guide me through on switching skins and themes. Maybe, I should plan what kind of layout this page should look, including change of background image. RWO told me that design on my page made my post unreadable at times...

butterfly MT Version 3.0

Sunday, June 27, 2004

A ticket had been submitted with PlogHost last Tuesday of my intention to upgrade from Movable Type version 2.661 to version 3.0 (Developer Edition).

PlogHost then requires me to give them my personal copy of Movable Type and after I have downloaded both the upgrade and the full version of Movable Type Personal (Limited Free Version), I decided not to upgrade for the time being. Although it is free and fully functional, it's unsupported version of Movable Type and will be limited to 1 author and 3 weblogs. Please check out what Movable Type can offer you here.

Wish I could have more time to know more about this latest Personal version of Movable Type. A simple mother of three that I am, I doubted whether I can understand the new MT's powerful version and extensible architecture.

butterfly It's All We Want

Sunday, June 13, 2004

While moderating BS blogs' industries, I chanced upon silverhorni @ journalspace.com's blog with the same above title, which he posted on June 10th:

Excerpt from Innocent Whistles Blog, written by silverhorni:

Reading around JS it's evident that so many are looking for that special person. Some of us have been waiting longer than others. Some of us thought we had found them only to discover we were wrong. Some of us feel hopeless. Some of us seem to stay hopeful in the midst of disappointment. Some of us set the bar and keep everyone hoping... Keifel & Vic! Some of us "grow up" as we find the one... Mikey! But mostly we are all still looking and hoping. And, we all know we will find that person one day and it will be good... very good.

After reading his post, I couldn't help but remember my Yahoo! profile's Latest News, "My lovelife is zero but, I didn't like online relationship since I do believe my soulmate will soon meet me at the right time, right place... to love me forever and for all eternity!" I paused for some time, and I decided to leave a brief comment:

And when that special someone will come along, let's all wish it will be real soon....

Ah! While in deep thoughts, I remember Helen Keller's Quote: The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

butterfly You've won a Microsoft X-Box (This is not spam)

Friday, June 11, 2004

I found this in my inbox this morning:

Greetings,

Your email address was entered into our Microsoft X-Box promotional competition by either yourself or a friend, or perhaps a family member, at http://www.prize-station.net.

This is a prize draw, you have actually won a brand new Microsoft X-Box Gaming Console.

Your package also includes these top 5 games:
- Halo
- Metal Gear Solid 2
- Max Payne
- Splinter Cell
- Panzer Dragoon Orta

You are now invited to login to our website and claim your prize that you have already won. There are only 5 winners in total this month, out of thousands of emails, so do count yourself lucky.

We have provided the following web link for you, it is temporary and expires in 72 hours. If you do not login within this time, your winning shall unfortunately be returned to the prize pool.

Here is your link!
http://www.prize-station.net/ ....
On this page you will need to enter this pass code number to proceed:

MX-BOX

This is very important. Do not lose that number! Put in your address, and we will send your X-Box to you.

We hope that you will enjoy your new X-Box gaming console.

Congratulations on winning,

From Microsoft and the Prize-Station team!

WARNING: I have noticed that Shipping option for INTL: FedEx International Economy - Rest of World is not working. Therefore, you will see this note after you have clicked submit: "Updated 06-09-04: We are sorry that we can not accept credit cards at this time, due to temporary technical issues with our merchant account. We do hope to have credit card available as an option as soon as possible." Guess it's too late to realize you have entered all your contact informations, including your credit card and PIN details.

HOAX? Well, curiosity prompted me to check out if this is real or not, SO, I suggest you visit this site, http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_xbox_giveaway.htm written by David Emery, commented that :

"Microsoft, the manufacturer of Xbox, has denounced this email offer as a hoax and says the sender is not affiliated with Microsoft in any way. Virtually identical emails have surfaced monthly since September 2003, in each case pointing "winners" to a different Web domain where they can supposedly claim their "prize" by providing a debit card number and PIN to prepay shipping charges. It has all the elements of a scam, plus a false claim of affiliation with Microsoft. Caveat emptor!"

butterfly DSL Is... Partially Installed

Wednesday, June 02, 2004

Twice I received a phone call from PLDT this morning but no one has showed up until two o'clock in the afternoon so I decided to go to SM City - Bicutan to canvass some cellphone products and prices (as requested by my eldest son) but, when we were out, I received a text message from my Sweety that those people I had been waiting for since yesterday showed up as soon as we left.

Too late to go back, I advised my daughter to assist them. Linemen had difficulty identifying our main telephone line connection since we're in the fourth floor of the building. I couldn't blamed them, anyway, because the assignment of numbers in every unit was very confusing. The beginning symbol and the last symbol are both located in the fourth floor and we're occupying the 18th unit, by the way.

Now, the DSL is already installed but, for some reason, I still couldn't access my account. Modem was off and daughter told me those PLDT linemen will go back tomorrow to test the connection. Due to this inconvenience, I had lost the opportunity to buy 1 million ideas of Apple Mac at B$ 11,697.13 only because my dialup connection was too slow this evening: Lucky Ziggy, he got the ideas!!!

butterfly New Toy

Friday, May 21, 2004

My new toy, a P4 2.8 GHZ 512MB PC400 DDR Memory 128 MB Inno 3D GF4 VCard 80 GB HDD Black Series PC has been delivered this afternoon. As usual, it's running on dual boot OS, win98SE and winXP Prof, in a 4-partitioned HD.

Many thanks to the warm customer service given by Tommy Reyes, the MCS branch manager of Starapple Computers, last Saturday, May 15th, when I made the above purchase.

Owning a MAC or a laptop remains in my wishlist. My children's education is my top priority for the next 4 years...

butterfly Still On Dialup Access

Monday, May 17, 2004

I called PLDT 171 this morning and made a follow up on my DSL broadband internet application but, unfortunately, I have to call again next Monday, to know the status of my application.

After series of questions, I also applied for PLDT Internet Vibe (Dialup internet) but, to my disappointment, I was told that they could not process my request until my DSL application has been served.

Well, if not for a certain R. Tan, a lineman working for PLDT, maybe until now I do not have a telephone line. He was the one who facilitated installations not only of my phone, but, including those phone lines of my neighbors...

butterfly PH Blog Awards 2004

Saturday, May 15, 2004

I found this in my neglected mails, along with hundred of subscribed newsletters in my inbox late last night:

Hi,

Your site http://www.ladylaila.net/blog/ was nominated by Arvind Satyanarayan. It will be included in the nominated list on the Philippine Blog Awards site if you accept the nomination. Please make a blank reply to this email with subject "http://www.ladylaila.net/blog/".

Thank You.

Philippine Blog Awards

Although I replied with a blank e-mail, I do not know if my blog is ready for this...

butterfly Got A New Phone!

Friday, May 14, 2004

You don't realized how much my phone brought so much joy with me this morning when its line was activated. I immediately called my family and informed them of the new number and the next thing I did was to call 171 and asked for DSL and PLDt Vibe Features but, unfortunately, I have to wait until Monday before I could request for full features of my phone line.

For the meantime, I must bear with the slow 28.8 kbps dialup speed: It's better than no connection at all...

butterfly It's Mother's Day!

Sunday, May 09, 2004

To all family women, Happy Mother's Day!

My phone is hooked up but not activated yet until wednesday, when initial payment is made on Tuesday. Do you realize what that means? I will be back online, YES, that's true. God has many reasons to keep me away from the net, I did many things and in fact, got influenza recently from busy life...

In few days, I will be back online and hopefully, get back my dsl broadband connection, too!

butterfly Site Is Accessible Again!

Thursday, April 22, 2004

For couple of days, my server had technical problems and I want to apologize to friends and visitors for not seeing my site for few days.

Well, today is a busy day and I shall be posting my news for the past days a bit later, probably in the afternoon...

Those who are asking where I am, I am still here, alive, and... not kicking yet :-)

butterfly Mild PC Problem

Sunday, February 29, 2004

I had difficulty this week loading windows this is why I am not very much online. We suspected it was the video card that caused the crash and my son told me it could be its fan. Tired of waiting until PC will load windows successfully, I called tech support of Starapple Computers if they are selling fan for video card. 'Though I was disappointed with his answer, he told me that the fan will still work if cleaned thoroughly.

My eldest son fixed it and for how many days it will be working fine, I am hopeful it will last long enough until I resolve some important issues. Somehow, should my son leaves for employment abroad, I will surely miss him...

butterfly Sponsor This Site!

Tuesday, February 17, 2004

Upgrade of web hosting plan is inevitable, it's unexpected that ladylaila.net would have lots of visits and three times I upgraded my plan in less than two months of its web existence.

Didn't know running my own domain is very costly unlike public sites like Geocities. I might consider looking for sponsorship for this site to keep this running...

butterfly Plan Upgraded Again

Monday, February 09, 2004

Bandwith's usage reached 80% today and I upgraded again this evening web hosting plan. Advanced payment for a year might be consumed within 3 months if every two weeks, plan must be upgraded due to higher bandwith needs...

Oh! Mama... you never told me there will be days like this!

Speaking of my mother, she's with us for three days now. I asked her to stay with us and heal me. I had severe headache which only my mother's touch could take it off. Since she survived a coma in February 1994 while I was in Brazil for the Carnival (don't get me wrong, I cut short my trip and went back to the country immediately), she was then gifted with a healing touch...

Believe it or not, it runs in her family...

butterfly Template Modules Added

Sunday, February 08, 2004

For barely 6 weeks of using Movable Type, only this time I fully noticed Template Modules. I created and added Header, Sidebar, and Footer Template Modules AND deleted long html tags off Category Archive, Date-based and Individual Archive Templates. I was hesitant at first that it might not work but, glad I tried.

Template Modules

Movable Type allows you to extract common chunks of HTML code into templates that you can then include in your other templates; in Movable Type, these common templates are called Template Modules. An example of the use for such a template might be a header that you use throughout your site. You can create a new template module called Header, paste in the common header code, then save the new template. You can then include this code in all of your other templates using the MTInclude tag:

< $MTInclude module="Header"$ >

This tag will be replaced by the contents of the Header custom template.

This allows you to keep all common code in one place, so that if you need to modify it, you only need to modify it in one place.

Source: Movable Type User Manual: TEMPLATES

When I need to edit my sidebar to add some new links, all I have to do is open my sidebar template module and changes will be reflected in all archive templates when rebuild!

Editing my archive templates are now easier since it has less html tags :-)

butterfly Weblog Awards

Thursday, January 29, 2004

Have you voted on the 4th Annual Weblog Awards - The 2004 Bloggies yet?

The Bloggies are publicly-chosen awards given to weblog writers and those related to weblogs. 30 awards will be given out this year.

Voting will close at 10:00 PM EST on Saturday, January 31 and their winners will be posted on Monday, March 15. Vote your favorite blogs now!

butterfly Category RSS Added

Friday, January 16, 2004

Many thanks to Girlie's Tips about how to generate RSS feeds by category. I was able to add the codes on all templates and category entries are now RSS readable.

Next I'd like to know is how to make a template for my side links entries. I am tired of updating each template whenever I add a link or did some changes.

Calendar provided here is not working properly and I still need to find the right codes to make it work perfectly. Sometimes, it didn't highlight the current date. Maybe some of you noticed that and will try my best to fix this problem.

To those who would like to use movable type program but didn't know how to install it on their server, Abe might be able to help you as he was the one who installed this program in my behalf.

butterfly MT version 2.65

Tuesday, December 30, 2003

Time flies too quickly. When Movable Type version 2.64 had been installed on ploghost server about ten days ago, just few days later prior to migrating all files to ladylaila.net/blog, a newer version of movable type 2.65 was released. Although I haven't familiarized myself well yet on its templates and tags, MT successfully upgraded to version 2.65 today and I did some minor changes on templates. So, I am sending this brief message for blog testing...

I had a terrible day today when my daughter accidentally deleted some files necessary to connect to broadband internet server. I'd thought at first that our server shuts down temporarily but we'd been waiting for couple of hours and yet, nothing happened. After I sought technical help from 173, I was informed that server was perfect and had no problem reported, and guess what? I was the first complainant today!

Looking for alternative, I logged on using win XP (PC got dual boot) and, my goodness! The internet connection speed was OK! This is how I continue editing my templates.

butterfly Category Links Added!

Sunday, December 28, 2003

Many thanks to Girlie's MT category archives listing tips, I was able to add category links on this page.

Category titles will still change as days pass by. There is primary and category attributes that I must consider next time. At least, it is now convenient for you to choose topics that best interest you...

butterfly RSS Reader is now installed!

Saturday, December 27, 2003

To install RSS reader (Internet syndication and aggregation software), I first upgraded Explorer 5.5 to version 6.0 and installed the free Microsoft .NET framework as required for first time installation instructions.

After it has been installed, I have added some of my favorite blogs but made a mistake at first. I have to enter rdf or rss feeds instead of blog URLs. And then I realize how convenient it is to syndicate someone's blog when I published my latest entry and I was informed of the latest update!

If you haven't install RSS Reader yet, I suggest you try to visit its site at www.rssreader.nl right now and you, too, will appreciate it. Ooppss! Feedster.com can make things simplier by registering yourself and they have 'Add Feeds feature' to subscribe to new feeds of your favorite blogs.

I know there are lots of blogging stuffs still waiting to be discovered... and, I am really happy and enjoying it...

butterfly Official Blog Site

Friday, December 26, 2003

Thank you very much for your continued support and interest in reading ladylaila.blogspot.com. And, because of that, I am happy to inform you that effective today, ladylaila.net/blog/ will be my official blog site and will integrate my Yahoo! Geocities home page to my new domain, ladylaila.net...

I hope ploghost server will not shut down again like before... if things didn't work out in this new site using movable type, I will still blog at blogspot to record my thoughts so that they will not slip away.

On the other side, are you mentally, financially and emotioanlly ready by 2004? Whether you're ready or not, I am wishing you all a GREAT AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!

butterfly Connection Error Access Denied

Thursday, December 25, 2003

I am not supposed to blog at blogspot but since ploghost server shuts down 2 days ago, something went wrong with movable type mt-cgi. I couldn't access MT Editor when running mt-load.cgi, I had an error message that says: "Got an error: Connection error: Access denied for user: 'username@localhost' (Using password: YES)" message and I first sought assistance from Exodus and he advised me address the matter to the support forums for Movable Type.

Few hours later, Girlie sent me a private message that they moved my bug report to MySQL forum, as the access problem was not a bug. It's good that Abe came online at Yahoo! and he's now checking cpanel for me with the link provided in Girlie's message, I hope he will resolve it the soonest possible time.

Ah! I'd thought earlier that blogging was the easiest way of creating web pages, now, as I go deeper into understanding the blog tools, plugins and resources, the more I realized that I am still a newbie.

butterfly www.ladylaila.net

After I successfully moved all my Yahoo! Geocities files to ploghost server, I take pride that all pages were VALID XHTML 1.0 now with W3C Validator EXCEPT my blog entries.

More movable type features are waiting to be explored! Unfortunately, server is always down due to unknown reason and Abe is checking out reasons behind accessibility problems of domain ladylaila.net.

Please accept my apology for the inconvenience. Please check out my new site for newer entries from time to time. Thank you...

butterfly Blog testing

Sunday, December 21, 2003

I had been busy these past few days trying to install movable type (MT) on ploghost server and how to configure a movable type template and stylesheet. This is my first entry to test MT at www.ladylaila.net/blog/.

Looks like it's working... my next concern was how-to-export my previous BlogSpot entries.

Voila! After many hours of browsing and finding for some answers, my BlogSpot previous entries were successfully imported to the new site! Many thanks to Exodus, for his prompt reply to my problem and I recommend his site at http://king-of-fools.com whenever there is a need for further detailed instructions not available in movabletype user manual. Thank you, The King!!!

My appreciation goes to Shareef as well, who sponsors ladylaila.net. And to all my silent mentors who contributed in the advancement of my blogging skills, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. Wishing You All Great Holiday Experience!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!!!

butterfly CHEAP Filipino-owned web hosting service

Saturday, December 13, 2003

While reading A Sassy Lawyer in Philippine Suburbia blog, I accidentally discovered that her blog is powered by plogHost, a Philippine-based, Filipino-owned web hosting service that offers affordable and flexible terms. When I checked out plogHost's webhosting plans, for as low as PhP75.00 (US$ 1.36) a month, I could have 75 MB webspace, 500 MB bandwidth, unlimited email, unlimited subdomain, support for PHP, mySQL, Perl, Frontpage Exts. PLUS additional of PhP600 (US$11.00) for a one-time domain registration for a year. PlogHost Domain registration is charged on a yearly basis while ccTLD (.ph) are charged for 2 years at $70.

This is too good to be true but, this is an answered prayer - to host my blog and images to a permanent server - and my wish to shift to Movable Type will come to reality real soon. In fairness with Blogger, build on the popular XML-RPC communication protocol, I find its Interface user-friendly, not only because it's FREE but, it takes a mouse click only to re-publish all of my blog entries at once. I am not aware if this feature is possible with MT? I will soon find out about this... ah! Mother never told me there will be days like these...

Abe Olandres, one of the incorporators of PlogHost accomodated my inquiry and I already registered with their webhosting service and placed my order to register ladylaila.net which will soon integrate my blogspot and geocities homepage. Demand for more control of my site prompted me to do this...

My BlogRoll Favorites are increasing each day and I hope to find time to review them all and rearranged them based on their blog type. For the meantime, please check out my neighbors on metaspace.

butterfly W3C MarkUp Validation Service Challenge

Friday, December 12, 2003

This W3C MarkUp Validation Service is a big challenge on my part. Wish I could lessen the errors on this page. It's very unfortunate that after corrections were made, this blog is not a valid RSS (again).

Template modification is inevitable... I am not giving up!

I received e-mail from Betsy Devine c/o Feedster User Support RE my RSS problem:
"Hi -- Scott asked me to look at your page and see if I can help you get valid RSS. I found two problems, one of which you can easily fix--the feed validator doesn't like the ntilde you used in this phrase: “Lacson scores Malacañang over ‘La(x)son’ stickers” The other problem is that the feed labels your posting times as pubdate where it should say pubDate. I have asked Scott to fix this for you and I am sure you'll soon have the RSS you want. Best wishes with your site!"

Thank you very much, Scott, for Betsy's visit on my site...

butterfly Desiring RSS Syndication

Tuesday, December 09, 2003

Can't figured out how-to-RSS this site and I had been wondering how can I syndicate this blog other than upgrading to Blogger PRO. I sent couple of e-mails to techie bloggers and I hope they would respond positively.

I am done with the first step with Syndic8: All About Feed Metadata:

Finally, I was able to fix my problem with the help of Mikel Maron. He asked me to try Feedster to RSS my blog and when things didn't worked out, he advised me to validate it at FeedValidator.

This blog is a valid RSS and I'd like to thank Mikel for guiding me through.

J. Scott Johnson, Co-Founder of Feedster, e-mailed me back: "The problem is that you have specified an incorrect entity code that isn't supported in XML. The code you have specified is ñ. If you fix that then you won't have the entity error."

"Note: Feedster doesn't care about the entity error so you don't have to fix it on our behalf."

Uhmmmm.... to know the extent of my page's errors, I XHTML validated it with W3C MarkUp Validation Service and it detected 72 errors! Errors are sometimes caused by URL or image links and they should properly coded based on xhtml 1.0 compliance.

I have tearful eyes right now, too sleepy to correct it this time. Need to wait another day to do it. I actually sneaked only in editing my blog while washing my son's uniform. Now that I am done, I'll leave the rest for tomorrow.

butterfly Blog Transferred Successfully!

Saturday, November 29, 2003

Finally, all my blog's images and archive files were completely backed up and uploaded successfully with the help of Jelyn Amores, tech support of info.com.ph. I had difficulty setting up Blogger FTP Publishing and I was lucky, Jelyn, guided me through.

Since yahoo advised me that they ONLY honor US credit cards like VISA, MASTERCARD and DISCOVERY, I had thought of downgrading Yahoo! PRO service to GeoCities Plus and keep my geocities.com/lady_laila site instead as my default homepage URL. I love to keep my Geocities Home page but Free account does not allow image loading to blogspot and other sites like Ryze. Now, to those who bookmarked lady-laila.biz, kindly update its URL on or before December 5th, thank you!

Michael is the sponsor of lady-laila.biz domain name - thank you, Michael, for your generosity! I hope, someday, Yahoo! GeoCities will consider accepting payments through PayPal.

butterfly Mom Finds Out About Blog

Thursday, November 13, 2003

I have read this local article, Mom Finds Out About Blog, involving Kevin Widmar and his mother Lilian, from The Onion which BIZ linked on Blogger. This article reminded me of my sister who discovered my blog six days ago. She accidentally discovered about my blog when her friend asked her if she knows me. Since then, I received Yahoo! messages from her friends...

butterfly Bloggers Gain Libel Protection

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

Worry no more, dear bloggers, speak your heart out! According to Wired News, bloggers gain libel protection. Online free speech advocates praised the decision as a victory. Read Full story.

"Here, the court basically said that when it comes to Internet publication, you can edit, pick and choose, and still be protected," said Cohn.

The case traces back to a North Carolina town in 1999, where handyman Robert Smith was repairing a truck owned by attorney and art collector Ellen Batzel. Smith claimed to have overheard Batzel say she was related to Nazi Gestapo head Heinrich Himmler. He said he concluded that the European paintings he saw in her home must be stolen goods, and shared this in an e-mail he sent to the editor of the Museum Security Network, an organization that publishes information about stolen art.

Without telling Smith the e-mail would be published, Ton Cremers -- the sole operator of Amsterdam-based Museum Security Network - made minor edits, then posted Smith's e-mail to a list of about 1,000 museum directors, journalists, auction houses, gallery owners and Interpol and FBI agents.

Three months later, Batzel learned of the post. She contacted Cremers to deny both the stolen art and Nazi ancestry allegations. She also said Smith's claims were motivated by financial disputes over contracting work.

Smith said he had no idea Cremers would publish a private e-mail on the list or on the Web.

Batzel sued Smith, Cremers and the Museum Security Network for defamation and won. Cremers appealed.

The appeals court questioned whether Cremers' minor edits to Smith's e-mail altered it so much that the post became a new piece of expression, and decided it had not. But because Smith claims he didn't know the e-mail would be published, the court also questioned whether the immunity provision of the Act applied, and passed the case back to the district court. The lower court will reconsider whether Cremers had reasonable belief that Smith's e-mail was intended for publication. (Source: Wired News)

butterfly Blogging Excellence on the Net

Monday, June 30, 2003

Since I have added Bravenet Stats on this page, I understand better the difference between real bloggers' visits and monitoring robots tracking down fresh blogs.

In case you didn't know, Userland's Weblog.com monitors over a thousand fresh blogs and have them listed on their site. You see, if you're a blogger who is feeling bored and lost, why don't visit other interesting fresh blogs at Weblog.com?

Ah! So many things to discover, so little time..

butterfly How Many Are Online?

Sunday, June 29, 2003

Blogs and Bloggers...

I have encountered today a very interesting ratings about blogging while browsing The Technorati's Top 100 ranks based on a linear relationship of the incoming links to a blog.

The Blogcount Estimate that there are about 2.4 to 2.9 million weblogs on the net. As of Jun 9, 2003, Blogger got 1.5 million registrations and about 705,000 are active. See the complete figures at blogcount!

Through Technorati's site, I discovered interesting works of other bloggers...

How Many Are Connected Online?

According to NUA Survey, "The art of estimating how many are online throughout the world is an inexact one at best. Surveys abound, using all sorts of measurement parameters."

How many are online worldwide as of September 2002, the number is 605.60 million. Source: NUA Survey

butterfly Soul Searching

Thursday, June 26, 2003

I prefer to make things easier and have not blog lately, not only to relax my mind but, also to think very carefully whether to continue blogging or not.

Everyday is a new learning experience and I had been exposed to many new stunning bloggers' works everyday. Some were funny, some were very creative, some were informative and, some aired warnings. Blogging has its advantages and disadvantages but, definitely, as a blogger, I have been exposing not only my thoughts but also my day-to-day activities which someday might affect my family, my work, my relationship with friends and most of all, my happiness!

I encountered a blogger's site, Don't Blog, and here are some of the reasons not to blog if you wish not to expose your privacy to the world.

Somehow, blogging saved me from chatting too much while keeping friends informed about the latest happenings in my life without directly communicating with them. Imagined repeating the same story to many people everyday just to satisfy their interest of knowing how are things with me... But, of course, I am not trying to avoid chatting with close friends, but, I just want to have a peaceful time with the kids while doing my soul-searching. It's a normal thing that we seek some quiet time, apart from pressures or influence of people close to us.

I'd like to thank all my sincere friends for regularly visiting this site... I hope everything is running smoothly and well with you and may God bless us all!

butterfly It's a cloudy Wednesday in the Philippines!

butterfly This weekend is a pretty busy one for all of us.

Saturday, June 14, 2003

This weekend is a pretty busy one for all of us.

Have you noticed a very slow internet connection today? My cable has intermittent connection and same thing with my dsl, I wonder what's going on.

Blogging with blogspot and synchronizing my entry to my geo blog had not been easier - archives failed to load sometimes. I still have to learn something new each day.

Ah! Where is my mother to teach me all these things? I missed her terribly...

Sunday, June 08, 2003

butterfly Blogrolling

Sunday, May 18, 2003

Finally, my Blogroll Me link works this evening. I'd thought I will stay up late again browsing for answers. Ah! There's so many things to do really but I have so little time... I shall edit this post later, I am very sleepy now.

butterfly This is a stressful day

...and I am sad that I can't run my Blogroll Me link after registering with couple of blog related sites. I mixed up my login username and passwords too and I forgot to bookmark some beautiful sites I visited. Three times we had power outage and the worst one was when a transformer near my house exploded.

Wish I can set everything up and running before I finally leave the net soon. Most of the personal blog sites I browsed through today were real stunning... the more I feel the necessity of upgrading my skills but I am running short of time...
