butterfly Dental Treatment for Denise

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

I reset my DP early this afternoon to accompany my son, Paul Denise, to the dentist.

Pearl and Shiela were with us when we went to Queen Mary Holistic Center located at Medical Plaza. Dr. Chavez is still in Canada so her assistant was the one who treated my son's dental concern. They explained to me the difference between Dental Treatment Plan A and B. So, I choose Treatment Plan A, for practical reasons: root canal treatment wouldn't last because my son is a smoker! I only gave partial deposit in the amount of Php 10,000. Next appointment will be on Nov. 3, at 2 pm

It was past 6 pm when we left from the clinic. Pearl and Shiela picked us up so we went home altogether. We're supposed to do some grocery shopping but since my son wants to rest, we went home after buying the prescribed medicines. At Mercury Drug Store, it took us about 30 mins before we were accomodated because many people were in line buying the medicines. Guess so many people are ill these days...

We've made it home finally, before Randy comes back online. I forgot to run Skype and I found out only he was online when I checked OP. He was upset he couldn't login to Tribal Wars so I activated Account Sitting request he made few days back. I was able to login to his account and researched wood, clay, and iron. The game wouldn't let me logout but fortunately, I remained logged on in my actual account.

Anyway, am relieved my son finally have time for dental treatment. He always set aside appointments before but since he has to undergo full medical checkup, he realized it's about time...

butterfly At The Hospital

Sunday, October 28, 2007

Although I was not fully recovered from stomach upset, Pearl, Shiela, and I went to Chinese General Hospital to visit my favorite niece, Trixia, when Randy logged out to bed.

Trixia was admitted yesterday after spending a day waiting at the ER, under observation. She has stage II Dengue. They kept monitoring her tempearture, blood platelets count, and BP. The lowest platelet count was 117 and highest BP was 100 / 80. Normal platelet count should be between 150-450.

We stayed there for about 2 hours with Egay's wife, Ana. Ana was happy when she saw her daughter, Trixia, had fun playing Deal or No Deal game on Nintendo DS Lite Pearl brought with her. Pearl went out to buy some food from Chow King and I fed Trixia. Both of her hands have IV needle so she couldn't hold anything.

Time ran so fast though... we had to leave so Trixia can rest.

butterfly Case II: NSO Annotation

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Pacette picked up the three (3) annotated copies of my live birth from NSO - East Avenue, with the following remarks:

"Pursuant to the Decision dated March 13, 2007 rendered by Judge T of the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Region, Branch XXX, Quezon City, under SPE. PRO. NO Q-06-XXXXX, the date of birth of the child is hereby ordered corrected from May 26, 1960 to June 6, 1960."

Certified Correct by Lenna L. Bosito (Archivist)

We're done with two cases and I am looking forward to Case III's last hearing on November 12th... many thanks to Randy for making these things possible.

Speaking of Randy, it's the fourth day he does not go to work. All classes are suspended due to wildfires in San Diego. It's unfortunate that another Sta. Ana winds is forecast on Sunday, which might make the wildfires worse.

I have stomach problems and suffering from diarrhea... I slept the whole day but the Skype was on and Randy talked to me from time to time updating me about what's going on. I couldn't talk much because I feel vomiting. I was able to eat something only at past 9 pm.

butterfly A Thanksgiving for Papa

Saturday, August 18, 2007

I've waited for Randy to go in DP before I accompanied Junjun and Tintin at St. Agnes General Hospital for scheduled follow-up check-up on his mumps.

At the hospital, Junjun recovered from mumps but unfortunately, he has ear infection that caused him sleepness nights lately and sometimes deafness with severe pains. We didn't know whether it was part of mumps thingy and it's unfortunate that it was Saturday afternoon and there is no EENT doctor available. He was prescribed with antibiotic and two kinds of pain killers but advised to have his ears checked on Tuesday or Thursday.

Junjun and Tintin were supposed to drop me at Ate Neth's place but the moment he saw his cousins, they decided to stay with me. They were all waiting for us, it's a nice family get-together, as we're celebrating Papa's 74th birthday in Chinese calendar.

Ate Neth was then cleaning Papa's wound and oh! It was too late for me to cover my eyes! My knees weakened and could hardly believe what I saw. Even when I was visiting him at Quezon City General Hospital, I never had a chance to see his cellulitis... just today! Ate Neth suspected that the white area underneath the skin might be a gauze cloth left when his dead skin was surgically removed to avoid serious infection. Well, sometimes doctors left their instrument inside their patient's body... so, Papa might go to the hospital again and let his surgeon check it.

Cellulitis infection

There was no preparation for Papa's birthday since we're not aware it was his birthday in Chinese. But, we get-together for a simple lunch as a way of thanksgiving and also to drive his bad luck away... well, that is his Chinese relatives believe, anyway.

I could see through Papa's eyes the happiness of seeing us all spending time together for him, peacefully... Papa is insulin dependent now and may God bless him a longer, happy life!

butterfly Mumps

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

When Randy logged out to bed after playing Unification Wars with me, Tintin, Junjun, and I went to St. Agnes General Hospital in Roosevelt St. .

We suspected that my son has mumps. Mumps or epidemic parotitis is a viral disease and I didn't allow him to go to school since yesterday.

Junjun at the hospital

At the hospital, he had his CBC checked and upon reading the result, Dr. Philip Nakpil confirmed it was mumps and prescribed #20 500 mg. tablets of Methisoprinol (Isoprinosine), to be taken 4 times a day for five days. Soft food and plenty of fluids are also advised. A medical letter has been given to my son which he submitted to his class adviser after we left the hospital. He is advised to rest for 5 days. If in case he has painful testicular swelling and rashes, he should be admitted to the hospital to save his sperm. His check up fee was Php 200.00 and CBC was Php 250.00 only.

Paul Denise was with Junjun when he came back from school. Their class was dismissed early. Then, we had dinner altogether at Chow King but, Junjun had congee with meatballs only while he's watching us eat Lauriat Sweet n Sour. Anyway, we bought his medicines from Mercury Drug on our way home.

Later in the evening, I was not able to tell Randy all what has happened in the afternoon because he has problem with his PC and couldn't turn on its power. So we talked briefly over the phone 20 mins before he left to work.

butterfly Case III: Direct Examination

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

Tintin and I arrived on time at RTC for Case III. The case was heard in a Family Court by an acting-presiding judge. It's the best court room I'd been to (for the three cases), it's an air-conditioned room and equipped with microphone and video camera.

I, being the petitioner, was presented for direct examination. I was cross-examined by the Hon. Public Prosecutor. The Question and Answer scene lasted for about 10 minutes only.

My counsel then requested for the issuance of Subpoena Duces Tecum and Ad Testificandum against the person who issued the Certification of Non-Issuance of Marriage License, Municipal Civil Registrar of Cardona, Rizal.

Next and (will be the last) hearing is on November 12, 2007 at 10:30 am.

After the hearing, I paid Atty R her appearance fee and she told me to prepare next week the amount of Php 500 for the transcript and Php 3,000 for the Subpoena and Sheriff fees.

Tintin and I hurriedly went back home and I told Randy what happened. We played Unification Wars and helped me reset my DP.

Then, Tintin and I left at 3 pm to Civil Registrar's Office when Randy went to bed. We picked up Case I and Case II documents and they advised me to bring Case I Finality / Decision to Civil Registrar's Office in Manila and let them update their records there before going to annotate my civil records in NSO - Manila Legal Department and NSO - East Avenue Legal Department.

We didn't stayed that long at the Releasing Section and we decided to buy Kowloon's Jumbo Siopao and Asado Siopao on our way to visit Papa at Quezon City General Hospital.

At the hospital, Papa was smiling when I brought his favorite siopao. He said we just arrived on time because he was so hungry and didn't liked the fish they were serving there lately. Papa has uncontrolled type 2 diabetes and been feeling hungry and thirsty all the time. If lucky, he might be discharged from the hospital tomorrow morning.

August First is indeed a good day for me. I have done the most difficult part of Case III; I have also in possession the signed copies of Finality and Decision for Case I and II; and, most of all, Papa can go home and live a normal life, just like he used to... but, of course, his cellulitis is still healing... only time knows whether Papa will be good enough to follow doctor's instructions on how to take good care of himself well.

With my fingers crossed... God bless us all!

butterfly Dental Check-Up

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

I woke up late this morning with a terrible headache. Today's my scheduled dental appointment and I was worried I won't make it.

Randy's already online when I logged on in the Unification Wars game. Our fedmates encouraged me to take rest but I have to reset my DP before going to my late afternoon appointment. Everything went smoothly in the game untl we had power outage. I called Randy to go to bed in case I won't be able to login back in the game.

Power was restored at 2:45 pm but Randy went offline already. So, Tintin and I left to see Dra. Meng chavez, Unit 2503 Medical Plaza, Ortigas Center. After long story-telling about my lovelife, she explained to me that I had infection and my molar tooth needs biological extraction to avoid further complications. The said infection can lower my immune system defense and can cause heart problems.

She suggested two treatment plans, whichever is more convenient for me after the extraction: Lower Bilateral Denture (Plan A, Php 20,700.00) or Implant / Implant Crowns (Plan B, US$ 3,450 + Php 75,900.00). Knowing that I had a nice figure before, she advised me to refrain from eating rice since I have gained so much weight since the last she saw me. I also mentioned to her that I stopped taking antibiotics Dra. Rosette prescribed to me because I itched a lot and I even had skin allergy again.

Before extracting my molar tooth, she asked me to submit the following blood tests by fax or email: FBS, complete CBS, Bleeding & Clotting Times. Fasting from 12 midnight before blood test should be observed.

I mentioned to her also about my unknown illness last year. So. Dra. Chavez recommends me to check online QUANTUM Electro Physiological Frequency Xrroid EPFX - SCIO and if I liked it, she could give me 'Biofeedback solutions for stress' sessions. The first session would cost me higher than the succeeding sessions and I am not sure if I am ready for these expenses.

Meng told me that our dear friend, Madam Olie, passed away last April this year due to Diabetes complications. I feel guilty for not seeing her for the last time. Wherever she is right now, may her soul rests in peace. Randy and I will include her in our prayers.

Meanwhile, my family dentist/best friend will stay here in Manila until last week of September, before going back to Canada. I hope Randy will meet her on his next visit.

butterfly Another Burning Incident

Thursday, October 05, 2006

Papa had infection when he got burn from the hot cooking oil while cooking lunch for his sick brother last Tuesday, right after he arrived from the burial of Alex.

0

Pacette accompanied Papa to have the treatment at Quezon City General Hospital where they prescribed him antibiotics, cleaning solution, and burn ointment, similar to what daughter have.

They dropped by here at home to visit Pearl and see the extent of her burn on her left arm since after the incident in the evening of Sept 28th at the St Peter's Funeral Home, she was not seen at the vigil nor at the burial. Pain and itchiness caused daughter sleepless nights but she's thankful she got the thermos from my mother before the accident took place. Otherwise, it would had been mama who is aching by now...

butterfly Derma Visit

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

I accompanied Sweetie this morning to St. Luke's Medical Arts for follow-up check up of her burnt skin.

0

Exposure to the above warm light relieved her from further itchiness. She was given another tablet, C30, to fascilitate healing process plus additonal Augmentin, C10, Potassium Permangenate (potperm) cleaning solution, and 22 g. Mupirocin ointment. The bill was Php 3,200!

Her next appointment will be next Wednesday.

butterfly The Burial

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

Egay and his family picked us up early this morning. We bought some juices and medicine for Ericson's stomach upset on our way to St. Peter's Funeral Home.

0

We arrived there at Room F at 8 am this morning. Rev. Fr. Oscar Avelino held the mass. Alex's Room was in order and the kitchen had been cleaned up earlier. When the mass ended, Rev. Fr. Avelino blessed Alex and family members had been all very emotional.

0

At Forest Park Memorial, my brother's family were all in tears and very emotional. In our hearts, it's hard to accept Alex is gone and this will be the last time we're going to look at her angelic face.

0

More family members, friends, and relatives on both sides kept coming to pay last respect for Alex.

Alexandra was buried at 10:30 am.

I'd like to thank Randy for his generosity and full support to my family.

Meanwhile, Randy had root implant and was unable to sleep until past 10 this evening Manila time due to severe pain. He's supposed to go to bed at 12 MN San Diego time (3 pm Manila time) but, he reamained awake until I had fallen asleep while chatting with him.

Randy posted also some news from Save the Children. Please check them out!

butterfly Sonnet of the Galaxy

Wednesday, August 30, 2006

This morning, I woke up as early as 7 am but, decided to turn off modem and router then went back to bed. I got up again when headache and congested chest bother me due to severe coughing. I was surprised it was almost 9 am when I got out of the shower.

Randy's already online when trillian logged on. We voice chat through skype while I was playing Rose online. He's watching National Geographic Channel featuring Osama Bin Laden and the 911 while I completed a Luna quest, Sonnet of the Galaxy (Visit Mildun to bring back a Spare Mana Engine for the Flying Vessel), through the help of a fellow Rose Online player.

I gave up doing the quest last night after playing for three consecutive hours. My son, Junjun, said that I should go to Goblin Cave and attack all goblin swords only but no Selloin document has been dropped. Junjun tried to complete the quest himself but when I logged in back this morning, I found out the quest is still active. Anyway, I went to B2 in Goblin Cave and finished the quest in less than 10 mins. Goblin guard held the precious document to fulfill a Luna quest and I gave it to Aphonso, an NPC character that serves as a transit point from Junon Polis to Luna. The quest requires that players should be at level 70 to do it but, I did mine at level 59. When I confronted Junjun about it, he was laughing and told me that he has forgotten how he did his quest.

Tintin invited me to "party" at Arumic Valley (Luna) while waiting for Randy to go online, to share experience points and loots according to level, since she's eleven levels ahead of me. I gained another level and managed to get 1 skill point.

Meanwhile, Randy was late logging online this evening. I had to call his phone number couple of times to let him know that I was waiting for him online. He had a dream that it was weekend and had thought of waking up late, only to find out he's too late for work. I recited the rosary alone before going to bed.

butterfly Am sick

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

The warm environment in Starapple Computers made me real sick that I woke up this morning with influenza. Tommy told me that Makati Cinema Square's Central air conditioning needs a million peso budget to repair their cooling system that the computer shop had been suffering for many years now awaiting for the building admin to fix it. What's worst, the rent remained the same in spite of failure to provide them central air.

Anyway, I was glad that I can now run Rose Online game in my new PC without crashing its system. Rose Online Evolution was launched on the 18th of August but, we're not home to try the game. Rose Online - Polaris Channel 3 had been busy all the time since the Philippine Rose Online accomodated the European players. The kids played the game as soon as we arrived from Hong Kong on the 21st but, I was able to play the game only today, when we replaced the video card of my new PC yesterday from Ati Radeon X550 to X300SE, for video driver compatibilty purposes.

Both Randy and I were upset since we cannot play this game together due to territorial agreement between South Korea's Gravity and Philippines' Level Up Games. We are still hoping that they will expand their territorial space soon or allow Randy's IP to access and play in their game server.

This morning, Papa called up and told me today is his 72nd birthday in Chinese Calendar but he will be celebrating it tomorrow with his fellow Diabetic friends in Quezon City General Hospital. Too bad I am too sick to visit him today to treat him to a Chinese restaurant. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Papa!

Meanwhile, Randy was sad when he informed me that the oldest woman in the world died today! The said woman from Ecuador died at the age of 116 due to old age. Our sympathy and condolence to her family and friends. May her soul rests in peace!

butterfly Anxiety

Friday, July 21, 2006

I woke up weak and tired.

Mama woke me up with her text message and before I can reply to her, Papa called up. I told him everything went smoothly although I didn't know yet the result of my X-RAY and FBS/CBC tests, which I will pick up at 1 pm today.

Then, I chatted with Randy. He wants me to relax and take everything easy. He watched America's Got Talent but, I was busy preparing to go to the QCGH OPD. I left the house at 12:30 pm but didn't shut down all my running programs.

At the hospital, I dropped my card at the counter so they can get my records while Pearl went to the Pathology and X-RAY Lab to get the reports. Pearl handed me the result while Joel was looking for my records. I didn't know whether I should thank God or not, because both results were normal!

When Joel got my records, I went to Room 17. All doctors were eating their lunch and then, they left for the usual Friday conference. That time, I didn't know yet whether FBS/CBC result was okay. I was then accomodated at past 3 pm. The doctor who read the results told me both results were normal and asked me to go to ENT - HNS instead at Room 12, just beside the OPHTHA clinic.

The ENT doctor checked both of my ears. He's surprised that my ears were clean because he said it's not healthy to clean our ears everyday. It should be done twice a week.

I told him the dizziness experience I had when I want to move sideways while sleeping. Next thing we tried was I sitted on a bed with my legs straight. He fixed my head at 45 degrees to the right and asked me to lay down fast with my head hanging in the air. He pointed the flash light on my eyes. There was no pain nor dizziness. We repeated the same, with my head at 45 degrees to the left. He didn't find anything wrong.

Next thing, he asked me to walk forward in a straight line with my other foot forward behind the other one, with my eyes closed. After hitting the wall, he told me to stop. The result? I'm normal and didn't have problems when it comes to balancing control!

Knowing from my record that I underwent series of tests, he told me dizziness could be symptoms of many disorders, just like ANXIETY. "ANXIETY?" I asked with surprise. "You mean, nervous breakdown?" He nodded. He asked me if I had been worrying lately before going to bed or if there is something bothering me that might trigger the dizziness I experienced when I laid my head on the pillows.

Anyway, he advised me to continue taking Betahistine Serc 16 mg (tablet) for the next three days and I will see him again on Tuesday morning.

Randy was still online waiting for me. I had been updating him what's going on with me through chikka messages. It was already past one in the morning on his side, I rushed home to send him to bed. He wanted to make sure I will be home before he logged out. He was surprised, too, upon hearing what might have caused my dizziness. He assured me that he loves me and I shouldn't worry about anything at all. He will be there for me, no matter what happens.

For five days, I had several tests, and the results were all normal. Whether I had anxiety or not, I'd like to thank God that I passed all medical tests.

butterfly CBC and Ophtha Tests

Thursday, July 20, 2006

I was up as early as six o'clock in the morning when Pacette texted me that she's on the way to the hospital. She has to get a number for me so I could have my eyes diagnosed at ophthalmology clinic. They only accomodate ten patients a day.

Pearl and I arrived at the QCGH OPD before 8:00 a.m. and Pacette met us at the entrance. When my name was called, I got the (1) number (thanks to "Kalbo") and we requested my records from Room 17. Then, we proceeded to Room 11, Ophtha Clinic. When I was called and being asked what's my problem, I mentioned how I feel dizzy and that I was also scheduled for Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) / Complete Blood Count (CBC). That time, it was past 9 in the morning.

I was told that Pathology Clinic closes at 10 a.m., so, I was then allowed to have my blood sample taken first. The nurse who took my blood sample made it smoothly that I didn't feel any pain when she gave me the injection. She asked me to get the result tomorrow between 9 am to 3 pm. We paid Php 158.00 only for FBS/CBC test earlier as there's no SWA representative yet to give us the discount.

We hurriedly went back to Ophtha Clinic and I had my eyes diagnosed. Since only one doctor was busy attending to all patients, we were told to wait again outside. Everytime there's an in-patient senior citizen on a wheel chair entering the clinic, they were accomodated first before those who were holding their respective numbers.

We decided to have breakfast at the hospital's canteen. I had Pancit Malabon and coffee just to eat something and take my medication. We probably spent about 30 minutes there and when we're done, we went back to Room 11. The same faces were there waiting to be called. I have heard three in-patients who had eye surgeries were the ones accomodated first. Somehow, I feel like leaving the hospital and just come back some other day but, I had thought that it's better to wait though, after all, it's a public hospital and treatment is free.

When my name was called, it sounded like a bell to me. Finally, Dr. Nemesio S. Artaiz Jr told me the results of SC and PH tests. He said I have clear vision and my problem is medical. I got OD 20/25 - 1 (SC) 20 / 20 (PH), OS 20/25 - 2 (SC) 20/20 (PH) and JOU + 1.

On our way home, I bought seedless Water Melon and Papaya. Pacette went to NSO and we're back home. Randy was online waiting for me. We watched America's Got Talent, Law and Order, and NBC News - San Diego. He's happy that I stayed away from playing online games.

My situation is unstable. I had chest pains occassionally and Randy believes that I should avoid getting mad nor excited. He stopped me from eating unhealthy foods so I am back to fruits and oatmeal.

When we recited the rosary this evening, we prayed that the result of my X-Ray and CBC tests aren't that serious...

butterfly Chest X-Ray

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Pacette called up in the morning to tell me to get ready. I hurriedly logged online to inform Randy that I will do my X-Ray and have my blood sugar be tested.

When Pacette arrived, Pearl and I hurriedly went downstairs. We went to Quezon City General Hospital OPD. Papa assisted us and instructed Pacette to get me Out-Patient Information Sheet and Patient's Card.

When my name was called, I explained what has happened with me. The nurse took my BP (110/80) and pulse rate (80). Then, Papa showed me where I could have my blood sugar test. Normal blood sugar count is 100 but, mine was 111. They advised me to watch the food I will be eating since my father is diabetic.

I was then called by a young doctor, who gave me Serc (16 mg. tablet) prescription, to be taken 3 times a day for 5 days, for drowsiness. He also gave me X-Ray, CBC, and Ophtha requests. Papa then accompanied me to the X-Ray room and I had my Chest X-Ray taken, result will be released on Friday while Optha clinic was closed. I should be early tomorrow to be accomodated since they only accept 10 patients a day. Besides, fasting is necessary after 12 midnight tonight for my CBC test tomorrow morning.

As we arrived home, I was grasping my breathe. I had severe headache and been dizzy since I left the house. Randy was waiting for me online. I left all programs running so I can chat with him as soon as I arrived home. I told him how I was accomodated by the hospital staffs warmly unlike the ones from Capitol Medical Center.

He excitedly told me that since I left, until I came back, Blogshares site had been under maintenance and backed up the same time I arrived. I jokingly told him I didn't have a hand on it... At times like this, Randy and I realized that life will have no meaning if one of us won't be there around... we have waited all these years to find each other.

And, am hopeful, the result of chest x-ray on Friday will be negative for fluids in my lungs. Whether I lacked oxygen or not, the series of test will determine what's my possible illness... and, guess what? I snoore couple of times last night!

butterfly Case III: Signed my Affidavit

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

I was still half awake when I received a text message from my lawyer. She wants me to sign the affidavit for Case III at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

Randy was chatting with me when I received it. As I was selling to him the regular blogs we usually traded in BlogShares, I sent my lawyer a reply that I can make it at 3 p.m. instead. I mentioned I was a bit weak due to what happened last night.

I left with Pearl at 2:30 pm, when Randy logged out and went to bed. I signed the affidavit, paid the lawyer her fee, and we did some shopping at Cherry Foodarama, on our way home.

Everything seemed normal until Randy went back online tonight. We recited the rosary together and I promised I will go to bed as soon as I bought back all the shares he sold before he logged out for work.

Ate Neth just called and advised me to have my blood sugar checked tomorrow. If Pacette, my younger sister, will drop by, I might give it a try. They're worried something bad might happen with me if I ignored what has happened last night.

Anyway, I will have PRE-TRIAL HEARING on Monday for Case III and TRIAL HEARING on Thursday for Case I. Wish the interrogation isn't that stressful...

butterfly Unknown Illness

I woke up past 10 a.m. this morning and I feel better than yesterday.

We arrived home this morning at 2 am from Capitol Medical Center. They wanted me to have Lung X-Ray because the attending physician suspected that I have fluid in my lungs. I refused to sit on the wheel chair and told them that I want to go home instead.

I was attended in the Emergency Room at 9:30 p.m. last night. They took my BP (139/90), pulse rate, and my temperature. I had ECG test which was normal but they couldn't find the illness associated to my complaint:

Yesterday afternoon, at home, right after I chatted with Randy, whenever I laid my head on my pillow to sleep, I felt like drowning and the attacks happened frequently. Alarmed that I have high blood, my mother who rushed to our place, convinced me to go to the hospital. She was there when I vomitted three times. Randy was online but, I couldn't even chat nor pray with him that he has to recite the rosary by himself while I can barely follow the rosary. I had been half conscious, so weak and had terrible headache, chest pain, and I couldn't speak well.

Kids and my mother were so worried that they called a cab without my will. I dressed up only when Randy begged me to go. Pearl was the one who chatted with him because I cannot take the light coming from the monitor. I was in bed voice chatting with Randy but I can hardly complete a sentence without grasping my breath.

Randy knew I was sick since the other night because I logged out early without waiting for him to come online. I had to recite the rosary silently two nights ago before going to bed because I had sore throat. I also complained of sore throat yesterday morning until he logged out. But, I still managed to cook our dinner and I even ate with the kids last night. Then, I felt tired and wanted to get some nap, at least before Randy comes online but, the moment I laid my head on my pillow, I felt strange, as if I was losing control of my consciousness, the pain originated from the back of my neck, as if I was drowning. I had to hold my daughter's arm or the headboard to keep my consciousness. Whatever illness was it, it was some kind of attack mother feared, it could be high blood, similar to what has happened with my aunt, who passed away 9 days ago after the first attack.

Anyway, at Capitol Medical Center Emergency Room, some patients were also admitted with similar complaints, just like mine! They put me in bed but on a sitting position. I had taken in Betahistine Serc 16 mg (tablet) and had Plasil (Ampule) Metoclopramide injection. After the ECG, I was told that I will be under observation for about an hour then the doctor will review the result of my ECG. I slept then. I was so weak and tired but, I didn't know why. The doctor finally showed up at past 1 a.m. I asked her what's the problem but she couldn't tell me yet until I will have Lung X-Ray. She sound sarcastic that I didn't want to stay any minute longer. When I asked her what's the result of my ECG, she said it was normal but she said, she believed I had oxygen shortage and she must see if I have fluid in my lungs. Knowing it was late and I want my daughter and mother to go to sleep, I told the attending physician that I want to go home and sleep. They want me to sign a waiver so I can go home but, I refused. Then the doctor came back and insisted that I sign a waiver before they will let me go home. Then, I raised my voice and told her, I went there to know my illness, if she said she cannot prescribe any medication because my illness remained unknown, then there is no way I will sign a waiver. I paid the hospital fees, and yet no medication to make me feel better, what's the waiver for?

We left the hospital without signing the waiver and I was so hungry we bought some food from Jollibee. I had macaroni soup while kids had cheese burger. When I rested my head on my pillow, I felt drowning again but, I fixed my head in one position to avoid losing consciousness. I wore the rosary then closed my eyes and prayed to God to extend my life.

Randy didn't wake me up this morning so I rested long enough to get some energy back.

Seeing my daughter with a swollen jaw due to last Monday's Odontectomy treatment crushed my heart into pieces.

She's on a soft diet as soon as we arrived from the clinic. She can barely open her mouth that she has to use teaspoon instead of the usual tablespoon. She complained of numbness on her right lower molar teeth area. Thankfully, Randy had the same treatment when he's same age of daughter and he knew exactly what daughter had been experiencing.

Her medication kept her sleeping most of the time. Guess the 2 hours oral surgery made her so tired and weak. She's not allowed to drink directly from the bottle that will require suction, especially using a straw. She's also upset that she couldn't smoke as it will cause dryness on her affected gum with stitches.

Everytime she had her soft diet, she has to use warm salt-water mouthwash as directed by Dr. Ferrer. Her next schedule will be next Monday, to remove her stitches.

butterfly First Oral Surgery

Monday, July 03, 2006

Randy and I were having fun playing in BlogShares and made some yummy B$ profits but, I logged out early at past 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon to accompany my daughter to St. Luke's Medical Center.

At Dr. Joel Ferrer's Dental Clinic, N-617 CHBC, Pearl had the X-ray before she had the oral surgery at 2:30 in the afternoon. We brought the digital camera with us so we can take video coverage of her surgery but they won't let me come closer to her due to sterile environment. Couple of times I saw anaesthesia was injected, I know it hurts but, daughter's impacted wisdom tooth has to be removed as her right jaw was swollen for the past two weeks.

At 4:18 p.m., I received a Chikka message from Randy asking me how are things going. Surgery was over then and Pearl had the briefing about post surgical home care. She was in terrible pain as anaesthesia's wearing out. Instead of replying back through a text message, I called him at 4:25 p.m. via overseas call and told him what has happened.

Sweety Pearl couldn't take the pain anymore and hurriedly left the clinic while I paid Php 10,350 only for Odontectomy plus X-ray. I was planning to go to the grocery after dropping Pearl home but, plan was changed because Randy wanted to make sure Pearl arrived home safely. She didn't wait for me anymore and I went home alone. I passed by in Mercury Drug and bought new ice bag and some Gatorade for her. She will be on a soft diet for 3-5 days.

When I arrived home, daughter locked up herself in the room. I filled the ice bag with ice cubes and gave it to her. Earlier, on my way home, I was furious she left me alone in the clinic but Randy explained to me how painful daughter was feeling. So, scolding her won't help her feel better. Then, I chatted with Randy online and asked him to sleep. It was late on his side but he wanted to know whether Pearl was fine... he stopped me from going for shopping as the 24 hour period is critical for Pearl and I must be on her side all the time.

The first oral surgery is just the beginning of the many more dental treatment daughter will undergo. Thank you very much, Randy, for being there for us...

butterfly RE: Dental Treatment Plan

Friday, June 30, 2006

Doing my daily online activities have changed when kids reformatted my HDD due to IRC worms attack, causing all files and data resized to zero. Paul Denise left his PC for me to use and he decided to stay in my sister's house, visiting Jessie, his cousin.

Although I was hesitant to leave this afternoon, I had to accompany Sweety Pearl to satisfy her curiosity to meet the dentists her friends referred to her. I logged out early this afternoon and asked Randy to go to bed since it is important that we made this visit. She's scheduled tomorrow with Dr. Rosette at 2 pm and we're running short of time.

We went to Suite 910 North, Cathedral Heights Bldg. Complex besides St. Lukes Medical Center but, we didn't like the way Lisa welcomed us so we went down to the 6th floor without even meeting Dr, Heidi in person. At Suite 617 North, Dr. Joel Ferrer says exactly what daughter wants to hear and Pearl even said that he could even read her mind. She wanted to ask a question but before she can even say them, Dr. Ferrer had the answers. In short, I cancelled the oral surgery with Dr. Rosette tomorrow and Pearl is scheduled on Monday at Dr. Ferrer's clinic.

For me, I still prefer that my daughter will have the treatment in my friend's dental clinic but, for some reasons, daughter is not comfortable with Dr. Rosette. She prefers my friend, Dr. Meng Chavez, to do the oral surgery on her but she is currently in Canada. She is our family dentist since 1984 and we enjoy a 5% discount.

At the clinic, Dr. Ferrer prescribed couple of medicines that will help my daughter be ready for her oral surgery right after Jocelyn examined her teeth and have taken her medical informations. The cost for daughter's oral surgery is the same as in Queen Mary Polyclinic except that we were charged with consultation fee of Php 600.00 by Dr. Ferrer.

We went to St. Luke's Pharmacy and bought Gelfoam. I was surprised when they charged us Php 1,547.20 for a sterile sponge. I was wondering why we have to buy this gelfoam and for what it will be used for. Our intention in going to St. Lukes was to save some money but, it looks like we're going to spend every small item she will need for her oral surgery.

Anyway, upon Dr. Ferrer's referal, we then proceed to Boston Laboratory for Hematology test. They took Pearl's CBC, CT, BT, PT and PTT. The blood test cost us Php 865.00. Dr. Ferrer says it will gonna be a painless, bloodless surgery as much as possible.

While waiting for a cab, we saw a couple with three children waiting for taxi as well. Then, I couldn't stop my big mouth from giving instructions. I advised them to wait for a cab right there in the loading/unloading area infront of the hospital but according to them, they already waited there yet they got no luck to find one. The wife is about 7-8 months pregnant and the youngest boy held on her husband's arms had been sick and needs liver transplant in Hong Kong. Surprised, I asked more questions until I realized I was still lucky that I have to prepare only about a thousand dollars for my daughter's dental treatment. The couple will need about Php 7.6 M to save their sick yellowish skinned son, whose age is about 3-4 years old only. She said many foundations contributed for their son's medical expense to save their child's life.

There was silence... I looked at every vehicle that passed us.. then, I whispered to myself with relief, "Thanks, God. My children are all healthy."

butterfly Dental Treatment Plan

Saturday, June 24, 2006

Pearl and I arrived at the Queen Mary Polyclinic located at Medical Plaza Ortigas after we had our breakfast at Hen Lin, past 2 in the afternoon.

Pearl's Dental Treatment 1

They took a Panoramic Dental X-Ray and upon Pearl's approval, she had been given oral prophylaxis only due to sensitive swollen gums and abscess in her lower right third molar tooth.

Pearl's Dental Treatment 1

Dr. Rosette rescheduled her again next Saturday. Daughter's gum needs healing but she was stubborn not to take in her antibiotic on time, in fear of overdose from Amoxycillin and Mefenamic Acid. Dr. Rosette then handed us Pearl's Dental Treatment Plan which cost is almost equivalent to one full year of college tuition fee!

Dental Treatment Plan:

  1. Panoramic Dental X-Ray: Php 800.00
  2. Oral prophylaxis: Php 750.00
  3. Amalgam Removal: R6, L6, L7; Php 1,380 X 3 = Php 4,140.00
  4. Restoration (Fillings, Lower Teeth): R6, L6, L7; Php 950 X 3 = Php 2,850.00
  5. Odontectomy (Impaction, Lower Teeth): R8, L8; Php 10,925 X 2 = Php 21,850.00
  6. Restoration (Fillings, Upper Teeth): R8, R7, L5, L7, L8; Php 850 X 5 = Php 4,250.00
  7. Extraction: (Upper) R8, L8; Php 1,500 X 2 = Php 3,000.00

Daughter was unhappy that her dental treatment would cost us too much and I had hard time convincing her that I prefer she had the treatment in my friend's dental clinic. She's been asking her friends around how much it would cost us if she will do it in St. Luke's Medical Center.

Randy saw already Dr. Chavez' Clinic and he's convinced that Pearl will have a safer oral surgery than in other dental clinic. She is scheduled on July 1st.

butterfly Wisdom Tooth

Wednesday, June 21, 2006

Daughter, 22, had been complaining of toothache as early as March this year when her wisdom tooth, or third molar, ruptures her gum.

She was supposed to have the dental treatment last March but, when she found out it would cost her over US$400, she backed out. Now that her right jaw is swelling, I made an appointment with Dr. Rocette on Saturday at 2 pm for my daughter's tooth wisdom extraction.

However, Dr. Rosette wants Pearl to have her X-ray tomorrow and to brief her as well on the consequences of having an impacted tooth wisdom. She will undergo a "surgery" and that scares her. Randy, who also had his molar tooth pulled out last week, had been telling Pearl that she should go and never wait a single day. My daughter had been gathering facts from others who had impacted wisdom tooth. Some died due to infection, others had their jaw adjusted, and others experienced enlargement of jaw due to pus deposits. I told her it's a part of growing up and she shouldn't be scared of pains.

Dr. Rosette prescribed antibiotic, Amoxycillin 500 mg caps 3 X a day for 7 days, to be taken every eight hours. The Mefenamic acid Tintin bought over the counter for Pearl is to relieve some pain but not enough to stop its swelling.

butterfly Tooth Problem

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Randy had been enduring a tooth problem since he was here in Manila. He even had dental treatment before he left to San Diego.

Finally, a stubborn tooth had been pulled today but, the medication he's taking made him a bit nervous and impatient. I had been hearing his moaning from pain because they didn't just pulled it, his dentist cut his gum to get all pieces of his molar tooth pulled out then made some stitches. He's on a soft diet to fill something in before taking his medication.

In the middle of his condition, I wanted to make him busy to keep his mind off from the pain but, something has happened while we're watching top blogs in Blogshares. We're in group chat with my {NSI} supporters guiding them how to make a neat buy when someone sold shares to the market. Both Randy and I spoiled the plan and that upset both of us before he logged out to sleep.

When he logged in back tonight, everything was okay except that he didn't sleep well. He sold his blogs under BB, SS, and DH folders and I bought the shares every 20 minutes until I bought all the 4000 shares for each blog. When he went to work, I had spent the rest of the evening reporting inactive blogs to earn some sigma points.

Randy told me he might have a sick leave for the day and will submit only some papers that his graduating class needed but, I think he teach his class even he's suffering from severe pain. Besides, the prescribed Vicodin caused him inconvenience of going to toilet more often.

I wish they already solved your tooth problem, Randy...

butterfly Worried

Monday, June 12, 2006

Randy had been suffering from toothache since he was here in Manila. While we went to the dental clinic of Dr. Chavez, the pain continuous until he was back in San Diego. His dentist treated his root canal last month and yet, today, he went to Kaiser Permanente's urgent care desk due to painful swollen jaw with accompanied fever. The doctor prescribed Clidamycin. a heavy antibiotic. Randy's doctor said that if it continues to get bigger then he needs to go to the ER again and they will operate on it.

In fact, when he logged in this evening, he barely talks and even logged out early. He said if he doesn't feel any better, he would cut the afternoon class and will go to the ER for further treatment.

Am so worried about him. Too bad I cannot do anything here on my side to ease the pain. He told me to advise the kids to take good care of their teeth so that when they reach his age, they will not suffer the same dental problems.

Get well soon, Randy.

butterfly Case III: Ads

Tuesday, April 25, 2006

I stayed in bed most of the day because of knee injury.

Pacette paid 11.5k in my behalf for the publication fee in Today's Ads for three consecutive weeks, for the public notice of the correction of my birthdate.

Randy takes very good care of me. He wanted me to relax and watched the last episodes of House, then we watched also The Fugitive, Dirty Harry, and Forest Gump movies in DVD.

We went to bed early because I was still ill.

butterfly Arthritis?

Monday, April 24, 2006

Randy and I went to see Dr. Rimando Saguin at Rm 5 Sta. Teresita General Hospital. I had knee xray and underwent yellow fluid testing in my knee which caused severe pain. Dr. Saguin asked for longer IV needle because my left knee is swollen. I tested negative for both yellow fluid and blood but the doctor prescribed Etoricoxib Arcoxia Ac 120 mg. tablet. I will go back next Monday, if the pain continues, for MRI. Dr. Saguin thinks I have arthritis.

Knee Checkup

We went to do some shopping inspite of bulgy left knee when a bandage was wrapped around it. The treatment caused me to walk limping. I was so embarassed but, it was really painful and I cannot control my steps. Randy told me how the doctor moved the needle in and out on the side of my upper knee cap. I closed my eyes while the test was being done and unable to take photos while the long syringe was inside of my swollen knee.

Anyway, the test gave me terrible knee sores when we arrived home. Randy checked online the name of the drug before he played HOUSE episode in DVD but, I was so sick and went to bed at past 9 pm.

butterfly Knee Support

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Knee Supporrt

Pearl, Junjun, and I went to Cyberzone and paid utility bills. Then, Junjun had his passport size photos with Kamera World for his passport renewal on Monday while Pearl and I went to the basement of SM Department store and bought circular lamp for Pearl's room.

Enduring a knee injury, Pearl bought me Airprene open knee support. I was all sweating and feeling uncomfortable and I decided to do our grocery shopping by Monday, when Tintin will have her day off because I wasn't feeling well...

As soon as we arrived home, I wear this knee support immediately. It aids stiffness and braces my knee for better movement. Guess I will wear this when I attend Sunday mass tomorrow. Kneeling is not advisable for those knee injury sufferers but, I will light a candle tomorrow and ask God to help me get rid of this knee injury sooner before Randy comes back to me in April!

butterfly Knee Injury

Monday, March 20, 2006

After ten days of bad fall in the bath room, I had been enduring another knee pain but, this time, it was more painful than what I had in September 2005. I had that previous knee injury from doing my workout while this time, it is from the fall and prolonged sitting in front of the computer!

I was feeling guilty for having an inactive lifestyle. Even if I want to do my workout, there's always a valid reason prevented me to do it, just like this time. When I was doing my workout last year, I developed some skin allergies in my thighs and my skin became sensitive from the tights I used for my workout. Now that I want to tone muscles and shape up a little bit, here comes the knee injury.

While I know lack of regular exercise and walking habits probably made my knees weaker, going out for a walk or window shopping is not my cup of tea. The Web MD's Coping With Knee Pain link Randy provided me gives me enlightenment how to deal with knee injury at home!

Meanwhile, while blogging this entry, PLDT messenger buzzed my unit and asked me to go down to get the bill. Daughter and I waved him to go up but, he shouted, "Why you didn't like to go down?"

Furious, I went downstairs limping and I whispered to him, "I have left knee injury this is why I cannot go down." Then he presented me the bill and I acknowledged the mail. He gave me my copy after tearing the attached note i signed. Puzzled, I asked what is that for and he told me it was a disconnection notice!

In my anger, I didn't know how I went upstairs. I hurriedly checked my check book but, there was no payment made last month. I remember paying some bills in cash last month to beat their due dates. And what gets to my nerve? The demand letter was delivered late too. I have to pay my telphone and DSL today or get service interruption! I have something to complain again with the owner of the building. Their maintenance boys were lazy to deliver the mails to the right unit.

Guess I have severe headache now than knee injury.... (mother never told me there will be days like this... gasp...)!

butterfly Bad Fall

Friday, March 10, 2006

I was taking my morning shower when daughter knocked at the door couple of times telling me the owner of the building was looking for me. As I stopped the shower, I opened the door and told her to ask what Mrs. Garcia wanted. When I walked to continue my shower, I slipped and had a bad fall. It was a painful one and I had spent about 2 minutes before I managed to get up and rinse the remaining shampoo off my hair.

Although I was limping and had upper back pain, I did some grocery shopping with Junjun and Tintin later in the afternoon. Unfortunately, when we arrived home, my two sons had misunderstandings caused by Tintin. I had to fix the goods in 20 plastic bags by myself and just then I felt again severe back and left knee pains. In spite of that, I was able to cook fried Tilapia and Pinakbet for dinner.

Glad mother arrived late this evening and she gave me good massage. Thank you, Mama, for the unconditional love and care....

butterfly Another Sore Throat

Thursday, January 19, 2006

I woke up this morning with a sore throat.

Well, the sore throat is not weather-related but because for the past two consecutive days, we had been messing with our voices singing to the max. Daughter bought Sakura WT3030 Multi DVD Player with song book and 2 Ballantine's VA-9500 KTV microphone two days ago from Santech Electronic & Music Center Co., 632-634 G. Puyat St., Quiapo Manila Tel. no. 7341824.

Last Tuesday, I had a concert with Pacette, Denise, Ana and her daughter, Tricia while yesterday, Denise, Beh and Pearl joined me in annoying our neighbors' eardrums. We all had fun but, at the same time, we had sore throats.

Today, I doubted whether I can sing another song...

butterfly FLU

Saturday, December 10, 2005

I had been suffering from flu for the past couple of days. The stress and sudden change of temperature were the main reasons. But, I was thankful I didn't have asthma allergy like what I had in year 2000.

In spite of being sick, I even went malling with daughter and Tintin but, we decided to go home as soon as we had lunch at Shakeys. We went at SM North to pick up Sweetie's SM Advantage Card and to check what entertainment events are available by the fourth week of this month. But, I forgot the latter because I wasn't expected there will be more people are doing their Christmas shopping spree. Air conditioning cannot handle the great number of shoppers and I started coughing until daughter suggested that she wants to have Mocha shake at Shakey's Pizza. We had pepperoni pizza and Chick-n-chips. After Shakey's, we decided to go home and leave the grocery shopping on weekdays, where fewer people do their shopping (I hope).

Since we moved here in Quezon City, I didn't remember seeing a clear blue sky, it's always smoggy here. While there will be meteor showers on the evening of the 13th of this month, it's sad to say I won't be able to make a wish if the sky is not clear.

Anyway, I'm not feeling well after the mall. I feel I will have another flu... cough... cough... cough...

butterfly No More Allergies

Saturday, November 26, 2005

Glad I finally get rid of those allergies kept appearing in my skin for about two months. I suspected the allergy was caused by emotional stress.

Someone close to my heart lied to me and it deeply affected me.

butterfly 8 lbs. Off

Monday, October 10, 2005

In my willingness to look good and feel good, I have lost about 8 lbs. since I started sweating out those unwanted pounds last month.

Unfortunately, the sudden change in room temperature caused me inconveniences. I had been coughing a lot lately and also have contact allergy since three days ago. I became hysterical because those reddening spots are too itchy. We had earlier impression that it was "hadhad" or fungal infection but, the affected area widened in just overnight, using Nizolex cream.

I went to my doctor early this morning after I had a telephone conversation with him. He's been my doctor since 1985. He had the impression it might be fungal infection and might be aggravated because I was under antibiotic for few days due to severe toothache. At the clinic, he told me it wasn't fungal infection but, a contact allergy. Alarmed, I told him I never had sexual contact but, he laughed and said it's contact to chemicals. I told him I often had this similar allergy in my arms and legs when exposed to cold weather, just like when I was in London, Syria, and Moscow. By then I realized it wasn't the cold weather that's giving me the allergy but the application of lotion in my delicate skin. Fifteen (15) Histacort tablet and a Diprolene Bethamethasone cream were prescribed. I feel relieved although a bit nervous about this extra expenses.

Should I blame the Hug-A-Mom Attack Vaseline TV commercial for getting this allergy? After dinner was served, I often glued myself watching GMA7's 24 Oras, Extra Challenge, Darna, Engkantadia, Sugo, and Sassy girl while doing Handy roller massage. I am mostly comfortable with powder when doing massage but the TV commercial inspired me to be huggable, too, by using my Vaseline lotion... and, here's what I've got, an allergy that affected my usual activities at home.

Anyway, now that I shed 8 lbs. off, I am looking forward to lose more...

butterfly Severe Toothache

Saturday, October 01, 2005

For the past three days, I had been enduring a severe toothache and had been self-medicating with Mefenamic Acid and Amoxicillin Trihydrate, both 500 mg. I saved PhP 500 for dental consultation.

Madam Olie told me last week that my friend/family dentist, Dr. Herminia "Meng" Chavez and her family migrated in Canada last year and I felt so lost whose dentist to consult with. For over twenty years, Meng was the only one who treated my dental problems. She's actually my best friend until I parted ways with my EX in 1997. EX had been referring lots of patients to her (after I separated from him) and I then stopped contacting her when I was under seclusion. We called each other once or twice a year and if I will recall, the last time I had my dental treatment was in 2000?

I googled for possible solution to my tooth problem and I realised I really have to see a dentist. I might have abcess and need root canal treatment which might cause me lots of money. It's not easy when you have these dental crowns and tooth bridges.

My current situation prevented me from doing my usual aerobic workout. Who in this world can jump and kick while suffering from severe toothache?

butterfly Getting Older

Wednesday, February 23, 2005

Are you prepared with the consequences of getting older?

I hate to admit it but some white hair are now proudly growing along with my silky black hair. Excess weight is inevitable. Just last week, I had swollen gums and a severe toothache. My vision is impaired that I had my eyes checked today when I accompanied my mother to have new reading glasses.

These are the results:
Distance: OD - 0.25 OS - 0.75 ADD OU + 1.75
Reading: Right eye + 1.50 and left eye + 1.00

Too much computer stuffs and inactivity resulted in an unhealthy me. It's time for you to have a look at a mirror and see if you are still the same person long before you became addicted online.

butterfly Radioactive Iodine Treatment

Tuesday, February 22, 2005

My brother finally had radioactive iodine treatment this afternoon, along with many patients suffering the same toxic goiter.

Details will be posted more later.

butterfly New A/C

Monday, August 02, 2004

I promised myself, I will live simply and try to live within our means. But, since we moved here in Quezon City, I always got sick. My room is warm at daytime, and the heat from my PC caused more heat, making me feel uncomfortable. Every now and then, I coughed and catch cold, which seldom happened when we were in Parañaque City. I missed my house but, life has changed with us and I have to fulfill my vow to God (to send my kids back to college) by all means.

Anyway, in observance of Lung Month this August, I decided to buy 1.0 HP Uni-Air air conditioner at SM Star Appliance Center today with Paul Denise. I know it will hurt me to pay my electric bills monthly but, health is more important than couple of hundred pesos savings.

As gasoline price increases today by 50 centavos a liter, I'm worried electricity and prices of commodities will be next...

butterfly Influenza Hits Me

Sunday, July 18, 2004

I have been sick for the last three days. Even I seldom go out of the house, I still get this influenza. GRRRR...

My brother, Egay, and his family are supposed to eat lunch with us today but, because I didn't like his kids get sick just like me, I rescheduled our lunch get-together by next Sunday.

butterfly Very Dramatic Day

Friday, March 26, 2004

In the morning, Paul Denise, Pearl, Arianne, and I were ready to donate blood! But, Pearl has to have her X-Ray at 8 in the morning as part of her college entrance pre-requirements. Later in the afternoon, she has a seminar at the university, which conflicts with our schedules but, I told her to follow if she has time...

Paul Denise and I arrived at PCH at 9:30 a.m. Immediately as we get off from the vehicle, I saw Junjun yelling at the guy in the Information Desk, they did not allowed my son to go upstairs! By then, I have noticed that there were so many people both inside and outside the hospital premises, mostly in uniforms. When I inquired what's going on, I was advised that all visitors and watchers were not allowed in the building unless it's the scheduled visiting hours, which is from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Surprised why they became strict on the third day of my visit, they said there was an on-going Fire Drill Exercise in the hospital and strictly no one is allowed to stay inside the rooms except patients. So we waited patiently near the Lab room.

At 10 a.m., we hurriedly signed in the log book, went upstairs and had little talk with the personnel at the Nurse Station. I tried to discuss about the endorsement or referral letter to PCSO to help my son pay half of the bills but I was told processing would take us about ten days, the least.

While thinking what to do, we then proceeded to PCH lab for blood donation, they normally close at 3 p.m., one hour early every Friday. As my turn came, I was given a sheet of paper, asked to go to ER window 10 but, ER was temporarily transferred at the other side of the building due to Fire Drill Exercise.

At ER, there were so many patients in queue but I talked with the nurse that we're not patients and she must get our BP and weight immediately so that we can go to the other hospital for blood screening and donation. I weighed about 68 kg. and had a BP of 100/80 while Paul Denise weight was only 60 kg. and had a BP of 110/80! After she noted our weight and BP, I went upstairs to tell them we're leaving but I met my son going downstairs in tears. Alarmed, I found out later that his wife might stay for another ten days because the hospital personnel will take time to issue Medical Abstract since the attending surgeon, Dr. Virata, was not around yet and there's no clinical abstract issuance every Saturday and Sunday! I smiled at him, patted his head, and assured him that I will do my best to get Tintin out the same day and he should keep calm and take everything easy.

At Las Piñas District Hospital, I paid P2,000 for blood screening and went to Blood Bank, located in the next building. Mohammed Khayer M. Safar, the one who screened us, asked series of questions. Disgusted, he disqualified me to donate my blood because I will soon have my monthly period while Paul Denise passed as a blood donor (blood type O)! Mohammed says women who have menstrual period 7 days before or after, are not qualified to donate blood. Just the same, I insisted that he screened my blood, dropped it in a blue solution, and it went straight at the bottom - I passed! But still, I'm not qualified to donate due to my forthcoming period!

Screening is done, it was about 11:45 in the morning. Mohammed told my son to eat first before blood letting and advised us to come back at 1 p.m., after lunch break. My daughter contacted me then but I told her to wait for us at home and no need to follow us, she is not qualified also to donate blood, her period is due next week.

Since I was disqualified to donate blood, we need another blood donor as my replacement. Knowing there is another blood donor with Junjun, Paul Denise contacted his big brother and told him to follow us at Las Piñas District Hospital with his donor. Few minutes later, Junjun and his donor arrived, I asked them to rest while we're in SM Sucat, had our lunch, changed some money and bought a loose dress for Tintin.

At SM Sucat, I had difficulty changing the money. I changed them in two places, at Hyper Supermarket and at Banco De Oro but, they rejected some bills. When they asked for my identification, I even forgot to bring my passport! Who in this world would remember to bring a passport if we want to discharge a patient from the hospital? Anyway, the guy at Banco De Oro offered his ID in order to change the dollars. What identifications I had with me were expired Driver's License and Tax Identification ID which they didn't honored.

Finally, as they finished blood letting and we received Blood Bank Certification, we went straight back to PCH in La Huerta. I submitted the certification at the Lab, they issued a Clearance which was signed by a Social Worker. It's what we need before a Statement of Account be released to us. When we're done paying all the surgical expense of Tintin, we went home relieved.

I feel good that my children are complete again...

butterfly Blood Letting

To be a blood donor, it is not enough that you want to donate your blood. There are many requirements to qualify before you can donate your blood to Blood Bank:

butterfly Looking For Blood Donor

Tuesday, March 23, 2004

Tintin needs more blood transfusion but, my son couldn't get one 450 cc of Type B Blood unless he finds a blood donor. For each blood pack used, my son should bring two blood donors. In short, PCH lab requires that six blood donors should be able to donate blood so that my son could get one more blood pack for Tintin OR pay P 2,000.00 representing screening fee + four blood donors! It's unfortunate none of us are qualified to donate blood due to sleepless nights over Tintin's hospitalization.

Lost where to get more money, I prayed to God for some help...

butterfly Caesarian Operation

Sunday, March 21, 2004

Unlike other ordinary miscarriage, Tintin underwent a caesarian (CS) operation and had blood transfusion, used two (2) 450 cc pack of Type B blood. She was confined at Parañaque Community Hospital (PCH) in La Huerta. Through the kind assistance of Social Workers there, Tintin had urgent CS at 11:30 p.m. last night. The fetus was about 35 days old...

I was under shock, I couldn't believe this is happening... never in my thoughts my first unborn grandchild will die long before the baby will be born.

Because of this, I didn't feel well having a legal meeting with Atty. Acosta today to discuss about RRE's REPLY to my counter-affidavit. We reset the meeting tomorrow.
